Coming Soon - Version 9
We haven’t posted any news for a while, and that’s because we have been flat out building Version 9 of FreeIndex. We can’t wait to get it live, and we are hoping to launch in the next couple of weeks. Version 9 is basically a complete rebuild from scratch. The new version has a brand new front end design, new features and a completely re-written back end which takes FreeIndex to the cutting edge of web development.
As the site has been built bit by bit over the last 6 years lots of code has been written which has now become obsolete. We decided it time for a blank sheet of paper, and a big clean up. As a result V9 not only looks better, but should be even faster than before.
New features which are definitely included in V9 are...
- New site wide design
- New bigger, better full screen mapping
- New profile page layouts with a clearer, professional design
- Easier to use forms with dynamic validation and in place tips implemented across the site
- Simpler standard menu structure with suggestions and related links
- Easier to understand My FreeIndex member area
- Business leads can now be browsed by category
- Simpler search implemented right across the site
- Recently Viewed – Automatically keeps track of things you looked at
Things we are working on which might make into this version, depending on how we get on..
- File attachments (Allowing you to attach files to your profile page)
- Video (Allowing you to include You-Tube videos in your profile page)
We are really excited about Version 9. It’s certainly one of the biggest changes we have made to the site since the beginning, and we can’t wait to get your feedback.

Great stuff free index, this current version was a marked inprovement of the previous version but still seems to be alot of text and not enough pictures and icons to make it more pleasing visually. Looking forward to the go-live date.
