New Year - New FreeIndex coming soon
Dear FreeIndex Members - Happy New Year!
We are planning to make some big changes to FreeIndex in 2014. We have a new design on the blocks and a new philosophy.
- 1. FreeIndex will be simpler, leaner and faster
We are planning to remove the Jobs and Events sections from the site and move leads and the forums into the business members’ area. Businesses will still be able to advertise Jobs and Events, but these areas will no longer have their own sections. We are planning to focus the entire site on leads and businesses, which is what 95% of our visitors use FreeIndex for. - 2. New Design
The site will have a brand new responsive design that will work on any size screen, especially tablets and mobiles. - 3. Improved Premium Features
We plan to include additional advertising benefits for premium members, which will mean premium members will get advertised on other pages as well as in the listings. - 4. New listing and profile page layout
We are developing a brand new listing style and business profile page layout that does more to show off your business photos and makes it easier for users to find the information they need faster.
- 5. Category Sponsorship
We are planning to allow businesses to sponsor categories on either a local or National Level. A maximum of 2 companies will be able to purchase Ad slots which will feature above the listings on every category page on FreeIndex. Prices will be based on Traffic levels. These Ad slots will replace the existing 3rd party Ads.

What safeguards are in place to ensure that SMEs get a chance at the new idea of Category Sponsorship? Well-funded national firms throw money at advertising and their budget 'outguns' the rest of us...

I have filled out the 10 possible leads and get very little action, i don't think the site is well known enough for it to be a success for everyone in every area. The concept of this site is quality, and i look forward to the changes, i just hope some time goes into advertising to increase site traffic, therefore enhancing the chances of getting more leads to chase. as soon as this site picks up and we are seeing leads on a weekly basis, we would be happy to subscribe to your membership.
As long as you keep showing up in the searches you just carry on doing what you are doing :)
This is a great news - B6 Squeaky Clean is very happy with free-index, and support the new changes which can only get better... Any enhancements or new features is always a massive plus.

Curious.... looking forward to the changes...
Hi. Could you please consider streamlining the photos re-organization? It takes AGES to re-order photos, moving a picture one step forward/back at a time then waiting a long time for the server to refresh, then repeating, again and again.. just to shift things a little. A drag and drop would be so much easier. Thanks

You need more categories for businesses. We don't have one for ours but are top of the category that we have had to choose. You need more ways that your customers can spend money with you to get some of your traffic over to their site. You also need to promote Free Index better so that more people have heard of it. Looking forward to the changes.

Lots of great comments here. I'm delighted about the move to being mobile and tablet responsive as our website is too. 25% of the traffic to our site is from a hand held devices and that % is growing. I hope that the customer reviews displays are enhanced in the new design layout. One thing I would like to see is a SEE MORE button or READ ALL REVIEWS when you get the end of the first 5 displayed reviews. This doesn't happen at the moment you view reviews on a mobile phone and is a missed opportunity for prospects to learn more about what our 50 plus customers have said about us. Can't wait to see the new look in Spring! Donna
please please please can we get google to show our reviews star rating on their search i found that when asked customers said i clicked on you because you had the stars under you so i checked out your reviews . i feel this is very important .apart from this your website is A1 KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Hi Simon, I have looked into this myself. The only way you get those STARS is to have customers place their reviews via their Google Plus Pages. So as a result I have now started giving customers the choice between FreeIndex and Google to give a review. Those STARS do catch the eye and will help with search rankings and click throughs. Will be interesting to see what FreeIndex can come up with to help raise increase reviews for visibility in search results and click throughs.
Give them the choice of 3 or four places to review your services. Keeping all your eggs in one basket is never a good idea. Ive been with free index since as long as i can remember but giving the choice of google review, facebook, twitter, linkedin, others is great for your customers especially if they already have accounts with the other options you provide.

Sounds interesting... Within these improvements, will there be the ability to display a Company Video, to enhance our free advertising (we already have one, produced in-house) as well as photo's (much like Gumtree etc)? At present, we have this on YouTube, Google , and Gumtree - all new 'free' advertising possibilities are most welcome.
Finally, as a small business, with an advertising budget of zero, we much appreciate Freeindex's resources as an invaluable media tool. Keep up the good work!

You can already have videos on your listing.

Happy New year - a code that could be added to checkouts / or after buy now buttons - once customer has purchased, a pop up screen asking to leave a review pops up and giving star ratings and option to leave a comment? also this link could be sent if you have no checkout.

All good that, but your site has gone well down hill,people dont get vetted on it and can just put what they want on it ie moveing up rankings, thats why the trades people i know, myself included dont bother putting reviews on it any more, for a waste of there time.
It's your customers who need add reviews not you. So... when you say that you don't bother "adding" reviews what do you mean. I think the site probably has enough security to prevent the person listed from making up their own reviews. Or is it that your customers don't bother reviewing you, could this be that they're not entirely happy with the service? so the site is good for vetting in a way...
