Those so called Police sales advertising people will never leave you alone, their advertising is not worth buying.Constantly getting sales calls on my premium rate number which is for customers only, when they call it costs me,(bastards).Signed up to the T.P.S.telephone preference service, meant to stop most of these type of sales calls,(works a little).

I've had a lot of calls of this kind, I now say. Send the details in an email with full info and I will look at it and pay by bacs or cheque. If they are genuine they will do it. I might add I don't ever get sent the details
Simple answer to fraud calls. Never buy from a cold call. Do your own research when you need something.

Cheers guys! Forewarned = forearmed!
This is a very useful site, given to me by the police. Has lots of useful advice.
www.actionfraud.police.uk/
I've been getting calls lately from someone claiming to be from the local Police press office, asking me to buy advertising space
Add a comment...This is nothing to do with the police, it is a scam! I contacted the police and they said to contact Action Fraud ( you'll find them online...www.actionfraud.police.uk , a very useful site). The police would never contact businesses for money.
As an ex Police officer.they are now allowed to promote /recommend anything out side their remit Policing
I had that same call as well.
same thing happened to me and they kept sending me bills to pay for advertising. I spoke to police and gave their details. never had any kind of letter or call afterwards.
Thanks for this! I get a few 'we are calling from the NHS' at this time of year. They are, of course, trying to sell adverts in NHS publications/ calendars. I won't deal with them in principle is they mis-represent themselves at first.
This is not what this forum is for and you are more likely to create bad will then sales leads. Go away.
Cheers for letting me know............
townpages is also another fraudster company
Good to know. Will make sure my business friends and colleagues are aware of this too. All the best
Thanks for the tips and head up :)
Have not had any calls of this nature, but always good to be aware!

Thank you for your tip off.
Not had this yet - Thanks for the Tip-off ...
Thanks for keeping us posted
Thanks for that will keep an eye out.
Thank you for letting us know. Survival of the fittest seems to be taking a new low.
Many thanks for the heads up on this one
Honest business practices seem to be beyond some of these cowboys!
Hi - thanks for the alert. We've had a few of these, telling us they are web directories or business listings and then expecting us to give payment over the phone. The phone number is always withheld so it's hard to trace who these scammers are.
will keep and ear and eye out :)
Shocking..I hope you catch these people.
That sounds like a rogue company thanks for letting everyone know.
ahhh thank you so much for the info thats so good of you to tell us x
must get between 8 & 20 calls a day from these idiots, makes it worse because my phone is on divert from the land line so costs me, to talk to them. Just inherited my daughters old mobile phone, up on investigation it has a facility which states `add to blacklist`, have done this with todays numbers, hope that means that my phone will block them in future?
I had numerous calls from Focal Point Blackpool to advertise.
Beware of them. They forced me to sign in the contract, did not do the job properly and when we stopped seeking their services, they got CCJ against us!!
they are a nightmare I had one from google but its once bitten twice shy il never take advertising again from anyone I have not contacted myself
Had. Call from on line media regarding my unpaid bill and due in court when questioned about what advertising it was for she told me it was for my publication in the school awareness books I replied that I had not placed any order and she hung up. I have been advised not to use the word YES in any conversation regarding these scams as the cut © it into a conversation to use against you . Be ware of any body useing with held tel no.s to sell advertising . If we advertise we make the contact !! To a publisher
I had one from global media corporation a magazine scam. Always be aware of pressure selling companies they are a total scam.
You should always ask for a written information and take time to think what they are offering you in that time you can do your own research.
Thank you so much for the arlet.
I have suffered from similar frauds, in which the caller says they are from the Police, Fire brigade, Hospital or Hospital Radio Ambulance services or a local doctors surgery. They will offer advertising space, often in non existent publications or notice boards.
Be very wary of anyone calling you to offer paid adverting fror your business.
The fraud caller maybe male or female. They sound relaxed and confident and they also sound as if they could be from one of the services the claim.
I had the same call they sent me letters saying they will take me court if I did not pay I told them I'm not paying a penny that's wen the name calling started then I got a phone call back he was male he said I have to pay I told him to bollocxxxxx as I new then it was a scam
Thanks this is very useful information www.a1mobility.uk.com
thanks for telling us - http://www.plumberyorkshire.co.uk/pages/index.php
Thank you for the message I will be ultra careful, I have had calls from someone claiming to be Google Sales, again thanks for the warning.
This is good to know thank you for the heads up.
Thanks for the heads up!!
Hi there, I have just read your article.
It is very good to warn members of these calls. I paid for premium membership on Freeindex yesterday (19 May 2013).
This afternoon I had a strange call from someone pretending to be from Google.
Good Infor from yourselves, Mark Boardman.
whilst on my free index checking out a new job lead guess what?i had a phone call from a company calling themselves google premier.i am glad i had read the article on fraudsters.it might have been genuine but i doubt it.i hung up swiftly.
Thanks for letting me no.
Thank you for informing us.
Thank you for letting me know I'll watch out for them.
Thanks a lot for the warning!
Thanks for the warning ;)
I have had the same call from a company called Jump Up Media
Thanks for the advise, i will pass it around.
Thank's will pass this on to all my staff
these companies are using all sorts of stories to try and sell, thanks for the heads up!
thanks for the info will watch out for this and report if I get approached
What an idiot this guy is! I sell web services myself along with promotional products, the number 1 rule is "dont lie to your customer about being from a big company especially google". What if your customer wants to sign up? What if they want to pay by direct debit? Your customer will soon find out if you aren't who you say you are just by looking at the company name on their bank statement, let alone when they sign an order form with a different company name on.
thanks for the info I will let you know if we get contacted by any

thanks for the warning as i have had wered emails from website companys wanting to build me a website and pay upfront and when i chequed ther in china & i have a wbsite already thums up for the freeindex for letting every body know
Thank for the warning much appreciated.
I had the same they said they spoke to me last November and that I had confirmed my acceptance, as I listened to the spiel I realised they were an independent company not a charity as they had inferred so I quickly said no thank you, took a long time for them to admit this so beware.
The latest one that i have had has been a person in Derby area telling me that i placed a verbal order with him last October for advertising. Now he is saying that he has reduced the price from £300 to £150 and wants payment then and there as the advert is ready to go. After telling that he was a liar etc he has stated that he will claim the money via the courts. This is a scam. I have read others stating the same experience from the internet. Beware
i have resived email from unque business number wich tray to sel ohone number to me , i dont know who theuy are or where they come from ?
Thank you for the warning and for your efforts in trying to protect us from these scams.
Thank You for the warning
thank you for making me aweasr of of it
Thanks for letting me know. We usually transfer call then put them on hold for about an half-hour.
Thannk you for the warning , we get so many crank calls similar to this , I always warn other therapists, and never conduct business over the phone, so thanks again.
Thank you for alerting us.
Thank you for keeping us informed as always.
No problems as of yet, thanks. Forewarned, forearmed and all that.
Not had one yet. But a couple of years ago got embroiled with something similar called premier media. Not good.
Thanks as always looking out for us.
I had a strange call on Friday. told him to get off on one, well kept him on hold for over 1/2hr listening to music he said that he was associated with Freeindex and Yahoo offering great deal advertising.
I feel left out - no scammers have called me. :o)
Good to know you are there to keep us safe! :)
We get many of these calls from so called Google experts, our most recent & persistent one just yesterday from "Online Supermarket" Tel: 0161 814 9460 / 07937 941025
Thanks for the heads up, it's very much appreciated.

Had three online betting withdrawals £700 Ouch beware beware beware Bank investigating
I have been receiving several calls. Some companies becoming quite pushy. Thank you as always for keeping us informed.
I have received a call from townpages offering me position on the
1-st page of GOOGle...although their company is not on the 1st page.Thay asked me 160£ x month, after 92+VAT....
Thank you for your update
Thank you for this important update
Yes, it's always good of you to let us know these things FreeIndex - especially when you're able to pass on a particular named used.
Re. 'Cold Callers'. I have to say that whenever we get these calls and (they are so good that) they actually get put through to me, it doesn't bother me in the slightest any more. Providing it isn't a 'scam', I appreciate that times are tough out there for a lot of businesses right now and we would all like to generate new business.
So...
Before they have the opportunity to really get into their 'schpiel', I simply say... “Thank you very much, but I really don't have the time right now. Goodbye...” – without allowing them a word in edgeways and then gently replace the receiver.
I haven’t lost my cool, don’t feel bad and hopefully they don’t feel too bad either – as I haven’t given them an earful, like 95% of callers on the other end of the phone probably do...

Thanks for letting me know!
Hi there, I keep getting calls from companies like google and other places, it is annoying, as they are rude and very arrogant
These fraudsters are becoming very annoying, I have just set up in business and I think its going to be a struggle to get a legitimate business going in the industry I am in, as its IT Services / Web Design. Although I do not cold call, I use my feet and deliver flyer's, which 99% get thrown away, and Newspaper Advertising, but the fraudsters are certainly not helping!
Thank you though Free Index for the heads up!
Thank you Freeindex, I am really appreciate that! Will do.
On my website on my contact page I state AEW is registered with the TPS and will not accept sales calls and when I do get a call I quiz them where they got my number they will not say then I hang up although if they leave their number I save it under scam 1 2 3 and so on then I can ignore the next call
Thank you for the heads up xx
This is an ongoing thing. I get approx. 5 calls a week from various 'Google affiliated' companies. They all get the same response from me....which I cannot print here! Their main source seems to be Yell. When they call and ask to speak to the person in charge of the Yell account you know it's a scam...
my husband got a call from them asking to speak to the 'one and only' then my name.......... he just hung up on them, they were cocky as hell!
Thank you for the heads up.
yes I have had similar calls to Paul re Google that can guarantee first page in the google search
Hi. We get many calls from so called GOOGLE experts who say they can guarantee front page and we had another one just last week but didn't catch their company name. Has anyone here had the magazine scam phone call, trying to sell magazine space for very low costs?? If you do then be very careful what you say and avoid at all costs. FREEINDEX Thanks for the heads up its very much appreciated.
Will b ready for them,if they call,Kindest Regards Craig Stein
Thanks for that, appreciate you letting us know

I had a scam call on 8th April I made a very polite and constructive suggestion to the caller that he may like to become a contortionist!
was called by them earlier last week, mentioned Freeindex right away, I listened for a minute, asked a pertinent question and then told him to go away.
Many scamsters, credit to Freeindex for the email alert. Thanks.
Ground Level Gardening
thanks for the heads up appreciate it and well done
If an SEO company is so good then why do they have to make sales calls. Surely if they are that good then they should be getting lots of work from their website and adwords campaign. I think this irony is lost on them.
I get loads of cold calls trying to sell advertising to me. I always quote that FreeIndex is my main source of enquiries and recommendations, and I get even more work when they read my reviews, so why would I want to pay for advertising? They usually hang up, and if not, then "goodbye" and "click" usually works!! thanks for the warning though.
nice to know get so many calls from people saying they can do that but like anything use your brain source it yourself
I had a call end of March from a 'researcher' Bristol Uni, asking my thoughts on Freeindex, when he jumped in about adverts on my page competing with my trade I then knew he was wanted to sell me webspace. when I told him it does me a favour and I win work when potential customers compare their prices,, they soon look me up.
He hung up !
thanks for the warning, ive had a few cold calls trying to get me to part with money for keywords and other advertising from seo companies, one said they were part of freeindex and another said they were from google
Thanks for the warning, keep up the great work.
they contacted me asking for £99 for 5 keywords permonth to be top of your searches and google. i declined.
Thanks FreeIndex. 2 calls received this week, one claiming to be from a Magazine called Hype and, for the umpteeth time, another from an SEO company claiming to work with google.
thanks freeindex for this heads up, we will keep a watch out
Hi everyone. Got mithered my Worldwide Marketing. Was put on top of Google for 6 weeks, but did not get one call from it. It cost £120 including vat. I am now on the top by paying per click, with a daily budget. Still no interest from this though. At least free index is as they say FREE !!
Thanks for letting us know
thanks for the heads up appreciate it well done free index
Thanks for letting us know, had a couple of phone calls last year like this and they were reading our information from what we posted on here trying to sell us advertising space etc.
Thanks for the alert, it is very professional and caring of you to notify members of this potential nuisance.
Thanks for letting me know. I got a call just after I had spent a bit of time updating my FI listing and they said they were from FreeIndex which sounded plausible.
They offered top of Google listings guaranteed for £150 per month and only offer to one industry sector, so once it's gone it's gone. Wasn't bothered about the sales call, we all have to make a living, but they DID say they were Freeindex, which was sneaky of them.
Thanks for this Freeindex.
Not recently, but a while ago I was contacted by a fraudster claiming to be from Freeindex asking me to pay an X amount towards admin or i'd lose my account......I could see right through this idiot!!
thank you. This site is a great tool that we should all help protect. It's been good to me. Well done Freeindex team.
thank you free index i will be aware of this and will let you know if i receave any calls thanks again val
Yeah they tried to sell me a small space on magazine for 142£ which will be published somewhere in Glasgow . Why would I need to advertise in Glasgow

had a few cold callers from e mails but few so thank you for your continued vigilance on our behalf
thank you for letting us know
Thanks for keeping us up to date on issues like this.
Thanks for letting us all know out here, to many of these scams going around now days.
Thanks for the heads up. I'm not daft, by any stretch of the imagination, but not too up on all this on-line malarky. Good to know someone's looking out for us traders.
Are we allowed to repost this on facebook? a bigger audience plus it may encourage more businesses to use freeindex
I did have some one claiming to be from facebook trying to sell regional adverts at a 25% of what facebook it self charge they were very pushy and on phone for about 40 minutes then weren't happy when I said NO
I did receive a call yesterday in regards to web services, but hung up as I don't want to be called for marketing purposes. Thank you for the update.
I get at least one email & maybe two calls a week from people claiming to work wonders of google ...the idiots found us on google in the first place.
Thanks for the warning and i think you site is well cool :0
Thank you for the alert, it is much appreciated.
ive had 3 calls in the last week , 2 from google and another from a none named company who said they saw my freeindex and fb and decided they can advertise me for a fee of £139... i told them were to go.
thanks for the alert and advice.
Hi. Thank you so much for the update, really good to know. If I do receive any calls, I will post to advise you.
Thank you so much for this. Yes, I was contacted by a person claiming to be from a google company saying that they work very closely with Freeindex. It was while I was updating my info on Freeindex, so maybe they are watching for activity. He asked a few questions like how often I use Freeindex etc and then tried to sell me a special "deal" for getting my website to the top of google listings. He was after about £100. I never buy anything from cold callers but he was quite pushy and then slammed the phone down when I kept saying no.... these people are just so awful!
Thank you I will kee this in mind if anyone contacts me
I was called by them. I just said i was not interested
Thanks for the info. Fortunately I have not had such a call.
Hi, Thank you for this update. I received a call from them just after I updated some information on our dashboard. The man I spoke to asked me If I was the person that updated the details on freeindex account and he was selling something different to me outside freeindex about Google advertisement. I then told him to send me an official e-mail before I can proceed with the offer he was giving to me. I never heard from him again.
Thanks for the details....
Thanks for that information - much appreciated.
we would like to thank freeindex for always updating customers it helps business like our selfs thank you once again
thanks for letting me know im shocked :0
