Another New My FreeIndex dashboard + Premium!

Hi Everyone. Hope you’re well.

We have received lots of feedback that the My FreeIndex dashboard we launched in January was too cluttered. We think you were right, so we have just launched what we think is a much cleaner, simpler version, which you may have already noticed.

The new dashboard allows you to expand sections to view further information instead of trying to display everything on one screen.

Second of all we have just launched “FreeIndex Premium”.  FreeIndex
Premium is a brand new optional upgrade for existing members.

Please note that everything that was Free before is still Free!

Premium features include removal of 3rd party ads (which has been requested many times), bold photo listings and additional lead features. It’s designed to give those who really value their FreeIndex membership more choice and control, without compromising the integrity of the market leading free service that we offer. Premium members also get priority support and content approval from our lovely team.

As mentioned above the premium service is completely optional, and there are no changes to what you get from FreeIndex if you decide that the premium product is not for you. Please also note that we will never phone to sell you FreeIndex Premium, or any of our services. We don’t have a sales team!

We would love to hear your comments on either of these new features or anything else.

Best regards,
The FreeIndex Team

Update : If you’re using chrome you may need to refresh your browser several times to get it to display the new dashboard properly. It caches everything!

Update 2 : The expand buttons do work. You might need to refresh your browser when on the MyFreeIndex Page. We think it’s chrome’s cache again. Also we have made a small change so it remembers which sections are expanded.

Good idea Google third party ads just lose business or distract. Bit like having a shop and a neon list in the window of your competitors. Smile.

I've been a member for about 6 months now. I've found it really easy to use however I do not appear to be getting any traffic directed to my website from the site. I realise i am using a free service, however, I would still expect some sort of traffic from it. It appears to me that the only way I will get some traffice directed to my site is if i upgrade and at the moment.

I've had rather alot of experience utilising cheap advertising options and currently believe that Free Index is one of the better ones. Keep up the good work and thanks for keeping it simple, honest and free.

I Like the idea that I can upgrade and show my company photos and logo, the positions are still governed by the feedback from customers arnt they? and if I promote the site to all my customers that in turn helps everyone on the site which is still as it was before for all the free listings the site is still the best free site in existance thanks

Having an upgrade service seems like a good idea to me. Anyone wishing to benefit from this additional service at only £8 a month, compared to other much more expensive lead generation sites, does have a choice. Anyone in business has to make money and that applies to free index. If you don't want to upgrade stick with what you have got.

I've been a member on Freeindex for a few years but haven't really used it until today when I needed to update a few details, and realised that I could use much more of the site than I realised. I've found it really easy to use, thank you , but feel that it will be a shame if members have to start upgrading to a premium package to reach a wider audience. In order to keep costs low for my clients I need to keep my costs to a minimum.

FREEINDEX should mean free or am I missing something. It is a life line for small businesses and a brilliant way of sourcing companies in your local area to do the job, anything from painting, copywriting, accountancy, etc. Please do not try and fix this site if it is not broken !!!!!

I too agree. What has made freeindex work for me is the fact that it is free. My turnover is small compared to some companies here im sure and the support you guys have given has helped me survive. My reviews are my life line. If i had to pay for that, i would be out of the game.
Freeindex means free index. Feeindex means fee index.
Please don't throw us all out you have helped me very much

I agree with a lot of the comments below about the new Premium charges - how can you justify calling your company FREEIndex when its not.
12 Jul 2011
Sean Richards from
Sean Richards Personal Training
Unfortunately, by charging for a PREMIUM service, you relegate everyone else on you site into a second-class inferior position. This has at least two negative outcomes. Firstly, people such as myself who have worked hard to present themselves well on your site and asked our customers to provide reviews of our services, will now be less motivated to continue because it will not be worthwhile unless we pay for the premium service. Secondly, you are now competing for customers in the paying market, which will dilute your presence down to one just like all the others. In a nutshell, FreeIndex has lost its uniqueness. What a shame.

I am deeply disappointed in your decision to make available a paid upgrade. Free index has always been my favorite advertising site because it was proud to be different from all the rest and i was getting good results up until about a year ago. I am not sure what happened but i am sad to say this site is now like all the others.

This would compromise the visitor experience in my opinion

Hopefully it WILL work on Chrome eventually without needing to refresh it several times. Since the last "new" page teh graphs are so small in the early parts of the month that its impossible to get a reading of the number of page views or clickthroughs till you get to about 5 or 6. The scale is too tight. It ought not to be too difficult to show the "count" as a standalone number as well as in a graphical layout or to ghost the number so that it shows up when you pass the mouse over it. It doesn't sound to me that the added value of the premium membership is enough to justify paying for it. Maybe if you were to give a premium customer a lead advantage of two days before non premium customers were given the opportunity to submit a quote, that might be worth paying for!

Despite all of that, I still enjoy using Freeindex and do still recommend it to many other businesses

I have no problem paying for a premium account. I think all your hard work in developing a great platform for small business to advertise on needs rewarding in some way. The reviews our very kind customers have submitted on freeindex have led to more new customers contacting us when seeing these comments. I find it very strange when people in business expect a service as good as yours for FREE. After all, if we charged very little or nothing for the services we provide, we wouldn't be in business for long!

As has been previously hinted at. I joined as a small business owner as it seemed to cater for them and ads are no problem , that is why it is FREE. As you start charging, the FREE goes and the slippery slope for the small business begins. I have no problem with ads, my concern is a change in direction once something expands and then the " give us some money " begins . My Firefox browser works ok. with the expand tabs you just have to refresh the page. With FREEindex ( note the word FREE ) I have to say " If it ain't broke don't try to fix it.
