FreeIndex V9 finally goes live!
You might have read that we were rebuilding FreeIndex from the bottom up and, well - here it is...We really hope you like it as it has taken us about 5 months to create. We have drunk far too much coffee and eaten too many takeaways, so we plan to do some kind of physical excise now!There is so much we have changed and hopefully improved, but here’s our top 10.
- Improved, more accurate search results across the site.
- Less padding and more of what you need when you need it.
- A completely sanitised code model that improves speed and page download times.
- New float over form system that helps everyone to complete forms quicker.
- You Tube videos now integrated into the site.
- Clearer, full width business profile pages with awards for the highest ranked companies.
- New light-weight, faster, site wide design.
- Map view and Range Controls implemented for businesses, leads and jobs across the site.
- Relevant ‘Also See’ links across the site. E.g. ‘Plumbers’ - Also See ‘Heating Engineers’.
- Viewing History added to the footer on all pages.
Obviously big changes like this always takes a bit of getting used to, but as ever we really want to hear your initial feedback – Good / Bad, easier to understand, better to use etc? If you spot any bugs, errors or weirdo’s – please let us know! It’s entirely possible that we have missed something.
Just as a side note, FreeIndex has apparently been shortlisted for ‘UK Digital Business of the Year’, so we have our fingers crossed here for that. Thanks as ever for all your nice comments which we always publish on the homepage.

i have been with free index for a couple of years now,i am a sole trader,plasterer,and always plug free index to other work mates because this service has provided me with so much work,all for nothing when other companys want £400 to £600 for this service. yes i work hard to get the results my customers want,but thanks to free index i have a knock on effect with only a few reviews.a BIG,BIG thank you to all who work so hard to make this site.

The new format Freeindex site looks great. However it does not work with a Google Chrome Browser. A little tweeking is still needed!

May I first congratulate you on an excellent website it has been of great help to my business. My only criticism is that, assuming I now use the 'standard link' to send to my customers is that as well as sending them a link to the review page I am also sending them adverts for companies doing exactly the same as me. I'm using google chrome and I'm having a lot of trouble with the site. Sometimes text overlaps and some links don't work when you click on them. If possible, I would appreciate if you could make the new layout more compatible with google chrome.

A good face lift. i agree with one of the comments below that when sometimes the users (searchers) might not realise that the information searched is below the page. A bit annoying to see the paid adverts flooding about right at the top of our page. Ranki
I think its dreadful in some respects. When you identify a category and location all you see on screen and I have a big screen are paid for adverts. The user may not realise there is more below the fold. I just feel its wasteful of space and more difficul
