Integration with Facebook, Twitter, Google and Yahoo!
Just a quick update to let you know that we are currently working on integrating FreeIndex with Twitter, Facebook, Google and Yahoo. Phew!The way it will work is by using some fairly new Tech called “Open Auth” which will effectively allow anyone with a Google, Yahoo, Facebook or Twitter account to login to FreeIndex without having to create a new username and password.
Anyone will be able login to FreeIndex with their Facebook or Google account for example, whilst still being properly authenticated.
Additionally current members of FreeIndex will be able to link their accounts with Facebook and Twitter. If you link your account, not only will you not need to remember your FreeIndex password anymore, but we will also automatically post “company x has just received a great review from y” on your Twitter feed or your FaceBook wall. We will also post this on the reviewer’s Facebook / Twitter account spreading good words about your business around the web.
We will make sure that we only post the positive stuff!
Facebook and Twitter are increasingly being used by businesses to network with potential clients and we cannot ignore these tools. Our recent survey in the forums indicates that at least 40% of FreeIndex business members already use FaceBook for business!
We hope to get this live in the next few weeks.
Other ideas that are on the blocks at the moment.
FreeIndex Mobile – A proper iphone / android app which would allow you to get access to the latest FreeIndex events on your mobile with push notifications. Your phone would beep in your pocket when a new lead was posted in your area for example. We have a meeting about that this week.
iGoogle gadget – To display the latest leads / Inbox messages / Reviews / Jobs etc on your igoogle home page. Does anyone use iGoogle?
Attachments – Allowing you to attach files to your FreeIndex profile. For example your current pricelist or menu.
So much is happening out there at the moment and we want to make absolutely sure that what we build first is what you need most.
We would love to hear your thoughts on anything mentioned above.

I am concerned that as an artist that sells signed prints as well as commissioned illustrations that some of the images that you have posted on my site are large enough for people to save and print.I cannot reduce the image size all I can do to edit is remove it all together.

i like to link accounts BUT not the log on - as mentioned below one hack takes down everything - However I would like to be able to share articles etc across multiple platforms and have share buttons available - also what about your cookie policy and keeping data safe?

Remember if your rubbing down your paintwork at home and the property is old, period, historic then a mask should be worn. If the paint work is in good condition don't rub down use sugar soap (Google sugar soap)with warm water. Wash and wipe down, allow to dry before painting. Make free index less parochial - customers are generally not bothered where product source is located in UK provided they good price, service and product. The current arrangement limits their choice, severely limits the number of enquiries received and most companies will despatch anywhere in the UK
Attachments sounds like a good idea. Not sure its absolutely necessary but it could add another dimension and would mean that everything is in the one place.

While you're at it. An RSS feed might be a good idea, listing services/products/photos preferably with the choice of also being able to send to twitter or even better twitterfeed.
