FreeIndex Development Update
Dear FreeIndex Members.
You may have noticed that we've refreshed the homepage, and this is just the first update of many that we will be making in the coming months.
First of all we will be tackling out of date information, and finding better ways to ensure that all of our content stays up to date on FreeIndex going forward. We will definitely be removing some companies that have not logged in for a long time, that no longer respond to our emails, or have websites that no longer work.
We have also made the difficult decision to reduce the number of Google Ads displayed around the site to improve usability and to make FreeIndex more attractive for potential customers. In the same vein, we have also decided to retire the Sponsored Advertising feature. If you have any credits left, please use them by 1 March 2018. These changes will directly hurt our bottom line, so we are looking at new ways to ensure the site stays viable but continues to offer a quality free service to all UK businesses.
As always, we will carry on improving the site in order to provide the best possible value to our members and the best experience for our users.
We will keep you updated on the progress over the coming months and as ever it's great to get your feedback.

Update (15 Nov 2017) :
144,000 businesses have been removed from FreeIndex whose email addresses no longer work. These businesses will also no longer be sent leads. If this has affected you and you want to be re-included, simply log in and you will be prompted to change your email address, after which your business will start being displayed again.
Update (24 Nov 2017) :
97,000 businesses have been removed from FreeIndex which have had no account activity for five years. We are emailing these companies with a link that allows reactivation once contact details have been checked and updated (if necessary).

Thanks to the success achieved from leads from this site I have a lot less need for advertising. I have many repeat customers and new customers increasingly come by word of mouth.

Thank you for the update. I've been on Freeindex for a few years. Any issues (very seldom) I've ever had have been promptly replied to & resolved, which I appreciate. Any offers of a review are always directed to my Freeindex page now in the first instance. The visibility and ability to show the latest reviews on my website page via a link is invaluable. I work hard keeping myself visible in the best possible way as most of my enquiries are, in one way, shape or form via the internet. It is gratifying to know Freeindex staff are doing the same. For this I Thank you.

Free Index has been a fantastic marketing tool for our business as well as being an outstanding platform to gain clients. Our business has grown over the last few years and a lot of our growth has been as a direct result of us being on Free Index.

Thank you for everything, I have had several jobs from Free Index over the years and really value your service. I have had to take a second job to help pay my bills and provide a stable income so subscribing to premium would not be something I'd want to take on. However, I would pay a commission (say 10%?) on leads that turn into jobs.

Thank you for your service. I have been using it for several years and whilst not getting a lot of work, I do get a job from time to time. So for those of us who don't want to upgrade to premium, why don't you offer a voluntary contribution opportunity for us, who would like to donate from time to time, to show their appreciation? Maybe you could have some preset radio buttons. £2, £3, £5, £10 and customisable amount. With safe card payments & paypal. You send a receipt & we reclaim on our business expenses. You still get extra monies coming into the coffers, to support the great service you provide? Seems like a no-brainer to me!! Kind regards Dylan.

Is it possible to make the review widget (code) auto resize as the review widget is great, but if you check on different browsers and different devices it's locked and breaks the coding of my website

You really need to get the ratings viewable on Google again. It used to say "Company Name" Freeindex - Rating with stars etc. the loss of that feature is impacting everyone businesses as people who don't know what the freeindex is wont bother clicking on it as theyll think its another one of those annoying useless directories rather than a 3rd party review website and directory. I think you should focus your approach on the value of reviews. The stars definitely have to come back.

Thanks Luis. For some reason Google has stopped listing your ratings against your FreeIndex result in their search. Our pages are correctly marked up and we're eager to get them back as much as you. This is something we're working on right now. Thanks for your feedback.

I've seen comments from other people here, I can't help but agree that there aren't that many leads coming up recently. I'm sure it is the current market trend and it is entirely outside your control. But thanks for the update, hopefully the situation improves.

Taz RahmanThere seem to have been a distinct slowdown in the number of leads showing up this year, particularly from spring 2017 onward. Is this anything to do with the changes to the site or perhaps changes in your own marketing activities? For me, it doesn't matter what the search looks like or how many google or other adverts that show on screen, I just prefer the same amount of leads as before!
