FreeIndex does Events!
Hi everyone. Hope your well.
We've just launched event advertising on FreeIndex. You can now add events such as gigs, shows, exhibitions, networking meetings, golf days, markets etc. Simply go to the My FreeIndex dashboard and refresh your browser to see the new events options.
Events will be displayed on your business profile page, and in the coming weeks, we plan to launch a brand new top level section of the site specifically for events, which will allow everyone to browse, search, use the map etc. We need some data in the system before we can go live with this, so now it’s over to you!
As soon as the front end of this is up and running there is all sorts of cool stuff we can do, like allowing users to subscribe to events in their area, or by venue and send out emails on a weekly basis telling them what’s on at the weekend etc. It’s worth pointing out that events will be able to be created by businesses and users.
We really hope we can make the events side of the site fly. We are also planning to launch city sites such as “www.sheffield.freeindex.co.uk” which will be designed to pull all of our localised content together, including Events, Directory, Jobs, Leads etc all aimed at a specific city. We are very excited about that!
As always we would love to get your first impressions of the new event advertising facility, and we welcome your feedback at this early stage on how you want the front end events section to work.

Please see Baslow artisan food festival. It is on at Baslow near Chatworth but the choice of venue comes up only Baslow Bakewell which is not near Chatworth.

Everything helps and I think that this is a really good idea and I will probably use it quite often as we do party plan and events for schools, charities.
As we are a team building events company, this sounds great.
I would suggest that each date has events broken down for different cities and type of event. We have used event diaries in the past, they either never get updated or become over populated and not user friendly. Might be worth having a maximum amount of events that can be added for a certain type or city.

Great idea but same issue as the last guy - the calendar doesn't correspond to the date that is brought up. Very random - try to kid by going a month forward as when I clicked on 6th July i got 7th May but even that did't work...let me know when it's sorted and I'll add my event again :)
Hi This is a GREAT idea IF it works... I have been trying to post the first event online and the calendar function does not come up with the correct date. If you fix that flaw it would be a great idea. Alternatively you could also put in the option to write your own date so you don't have to rely on the actual calendar which in this case is wrong...
