I really enjoyed my time with Ian, he is an excellent instructor and a joy to be around which made me look forward to each lesson. I was able to learn at a steady pace thanks to his methods and professionalism. Ian being able to answer all my questions helped me so much. I highly recommend him to anyone, whatever level of nervousness or competency. He never let me down with lesson times and thanks to his thorough teaching I felt well prepared for my test which I passed 1st time.

Ian often said to me that driving isn’t a skill that somebody is born with, however it’s hard to believe it’s a skill that Ian wasn’t born with! Starting lessons with Ian, I was incredibly nervous and a very anxious driver. I used to be so scared when my previous instructor used to pick me up, Ian was incredible, always arriving early and often dropping me off later than my scheduled time, Ian was so patient with me, and listened to what I had to say about how I was feeling. The way Ian explains things makes them simple to understand and it was made very clear to me when I started off that no question was a stupid question, taking a lot of that fear away immediately when on lesson that I could ask for help whenever I needed it. It was also lovely just having a chat and getting to know Ian himself! It was truly lovely and relaxing when driving. I cannot explain how thankful I am to have been taught by Ian, and to have had somebody so patient, understanding, reassuring and kind to guide me through passing my driving test. Now I will always have Ian’s voice in my mind when I drive… “think safety! ” Road Light Driver Training was 100% the right move!

I recently passed my driving test, and I couldn’t have done it without Ian. After being with three different instructors before Ian, I can confidently say that he excelled in building my confidence and helping me progress where I felt other instructors simply were unable to. Ian is an incredibly honest and sincere driving instructor who is truly committed to helping his students succeed. He has a very professional demeanour and always remains calm and composed, even when I made serious or dangerous mistakes. Ian never shouts, instead, he deals with errors in a patient and understanding manner, making sure you learn from them. He is also highly focused on achieving your goals and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure you’re confident and ready not only for your test but for driving even long after that. The end of Jan, I began learning with Ian after seeing reviews online. I had never drove a car before that I can 100% say from my first lesson to now passing first time with 0 faults, Ian is one of the best instructors any new driver could look for. Always on time (if not earlier) every lesson spent we built up my skills and went over lessons I struggled with till I was happy which got me here! From the start, Ian was friendly, making lessons enjoyable and fun so when I did make mistakes he’d never shout but was patient and helped me improve by demonstrating in various ways (apps, watching him first, and even a Lego model)! Ian stands out from other instructors as he teaches you how to adapt your driving to real life situations instead of test standard which made me a really confident driver when on the road and knowing I was in control when parking in tight spaces. At the end of each lesson we also recalled what I did and made me independent by asking me what I’d say to someone who didn’t know about what we learnt which made me use my initiative and knowledge. I honestly couldn’t recommend Ian enough! Everything he offers is worth the money and I will be back to do a motorway lesson soon! I first started driving with Ian after a friend recommended him too me, he always made me feel safe and comfortable during our lessons and he always explained things in a way that made it easy for me to grasp and understand. I always looked forward to my lessons with Ian as not only was it a step closer to my full license it was also a good laugh. I feel like most instructors teach you how to pass your test but Ian taught me how to drive safely on the road and if I ever got too stressed out in the lesson he would always calm me down and help me which I am especially grateful for as I suffer from bad anxiety. I would recommend Ian as an instructor if anyone is looking to learn how to drive. Thank you Ian!

Ian was a brilliant instructor for me, as I have had 2 other driving instructors before him and they were not teaching me in the way that I needed and always felt like they were taking down to me instead of guiding me to help me understand what I needed to do, they were just telling me even if I didn’t understand what they meant, Ian was different and we would talk about what I was struggling with and would find a way to explain it in a way that I can understand, then he would ask me to explain it back and then we would have a go and would ask how I felt and what I wanted to try to get things right. Ian always made me think about how I could improve myself rather than just telling me to do things. Ian never let me down with lessons time was never wasted every lesson was a productive lesson, Today I passed my test first time and would highly recommend him as an instructor who really cares about his pupils and understands what people need to help them to also pass. I will definitely be having motorway lessons with Ian as all lessons are fun. Thank you Ian for everything I couldn’t of done it without you.

My mum chose Ian as my driving instructor after reading his reviews and his qualifications. I can honestly say that I enjoyed my lessons with Ian and he made everything understandable. I always felt confident enough to ask Ian if I didn’t understand, and he would find a way to explain it differently so that I would. He never got angry or shouted at me, but always remained calm and built my confidence. I had two other driving instructors before I started with Ian, and I can honestly say I found Ian to be better than the other two. I found he was calmer and patient, explaining things well to me. I felt comfortable enough to ask him questions on things I was unsure about. Ian has been an exceptional driving instructor for me, leading to me passing my test confidently this week. Having had lessons with another instructor in the past but been unable to pass the test, I was reluctant to try again. Ian worked closely with me to develop all the required skills so that on test day, I felt genuinely confident I'd be able to handle anything that would come up. His calm and friendly manner made lessons a pleasure, and something to look forward to. As a 'mature' student (in my 30s) I felt my needs were carefully considered just as I'm sure they would be for younger drivers. Every penny spent on my tuition was worth it. Massive thanks, Ian!

Ian is an amazing instructor. He is calm, patient and after every lesson, he would provide feedback through a reflective log to help me with my development of driving and also have me goals for my next lesson. Ian gave advice and guidance on how I could improve my driving and he patiently guided me step by step when doing manoeuvres until I felt confident enough to complete them on my own. Ian also allowed me to progress at my own pace and when I wasn’t confident enough in one part of my driving, we would focus on that part in a lesson. I progressed really quickly and after 18 lessons Ian said I was ready for my test, which I passed at my first attempt with no minor faults! I can’t recommend Ian enough, one of the best driving instructors in Bolton.

Ian had been an amazing driving instructor. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. He is patient and kind. I am someone who struggles with anxiety and he was calm and reassuring when I made mistakes, and always has a tissue ready if I needed it. He was very helpful at controlling my nerves on test day. I liked that he would show me what to do first, and he would talk through what he was doing as we drove around. A very patient instructor, Ian was very friendly and carefully told me what I needed to know and I could ask him anything as regards driving and he was very willing to assist. I decided to use Ian after reading his incredible reviews and seeing his first time pass rate. I had previously been using a different instructor but felt we weren’t making progress at a good rate. The lessons were so different to my previous experience- learning both theory, technique and building confidence. Ian didn’t have an easy ride with me (pun intended! ), he’s regularly had to pass me the tissues when I’ve got upset with myself. He’s been great company, a huge confidence builder but moreover a great teacher. I’m pleased to say I managed to keep up your winning streak of first time passes by passing today! Before starting with Ian, I wasn’t confident in driving. There was many times where I felt as thought driving an manual car was not for me so I should take up learning with an automatic, because I had an instructor who made me doubt myself. I found And chose Ian after reading so many good reviews about him, and I instantly thought I should try learning with him and see how it goes. From the first lesson with Ian, he made me feel as though I can pass with a manual. Ian was never late to any of his lesson , and didn’t waste any time and was very straight into teaching each lesson. At the end of every lesson we had a reflection log, to go back on, which was very helpful. Each lesson Ian made me confident and comfortable to gain the skills that I needed to be a safe driver, and he always told me to believe a lot in myself, as Ian did, and because of Ian and his high level of teaching, I have gone and passed my driving test, 1st time So Thankyou once again Ian, without you, I don’t think I would’ve done this.

Learning to drive with Ian has been a such comfortable and enjoyable experience. I just passed first time and I cant thank Ian enough! He has been so patient and always settled my doubts when I was lacking confidence. I now feel confident and that’s all thanks to Ian! Ian was always on time and very consistent with lessons. I enjoyed my lessons with Ian because he was able to explain things to me clearly and I always understood what I needed to do and even if I forgot he was happy to go over it again so I was comfortable with what I was learning. Ian was usually early and he never let me down and always got plenty of time driving. Ian uses a reflective log at the end of a lesson which I found useful to check my progress and at the end of every lesson we set a goal for me to reach for the next lesson. I'm very grateful to Ian for getting me up to speed with my driving… Had lessons previously with another instructor but just needed polishing up… To get me to test standard… Ian manged to fit me in with his other pupils… The lessons were very good… And having 2hrs lessons made it better for me to gain more experience… Ian made everything simple and easy to remember to put into practice… Was always on time if not 5 minutes early… Was always clear on contacting me on our due lessons… Would definitely recommend for those that want to pass… Which I did first time ;).

Ian was a great driving instructor. He went through everything in detail and had great patience when I made the silliest mistakes! Would definitely recommend him and will definitely look into going back to him for motorway and further training.

Ian has been such an amazing driving instructor. He has lots of tips and tricks to make driving so much easier but also to make you feel so much more confident when driving.
