About Fareham U17 Driving Club
Welcome to Fareham Under 17 Driving Club, which is for 15 to 16 year olds and we normally meet one Sunday a month at the car park of Crofton School, Marks Road, Stubbington PO14 2AT.
The objectives of the club are to teach the basics of driving in the safety of a private car park, so the pupils may gain their initial confidence safely and to start building up their driving experience.
This will let them have a better understanding of the dangers of driving and prepare them to deal with the potentially life-threatening situations. This will also help with their road safety awareness, making them safer pedestrians, cyclists and moped riders.
Attending the club doesn't replace normal driving lessons on the road at 17, but if they can attend often enough it will help them prepare for their theory test, make them safer and should reduce the number of lessons needed.
The Club is run by appointment only, each pupil is allocated a 2 hour appointment. The first hour is an informal small group theory session covering the categories that the test will be made up of and Hazard perception, the second hour driving 1-2-1 with an instructor in a dual controlled car.
The club charges a one-off joining fee of £15 (to cover the cost of the Starter Pack which includes the Highway Code and all the hand outs we give out) then £55 for each 2 hour meeting to be paid by Bank Transfer at least 2 days in advance or by arrangement, cash on arrival.
Block bookings can also be paid for in advance.
This club is run by fully qualified DVSA registered, professional, DBS checked Driving Instructors, all the cars used are fully insured for this type of event and have dual controls, a full risk assessment has also been carried out and documented.
As numbers are limited, when the club is full, we have a waiting list.
