Always helped me with problems and never rushed me. Allowed things to be done at my own pace and this lead to a first time pass.

John was brilliant. He was calm and collected and made sure I fully understood everything before moving onto another aspect of driving. He greatly improved my struggles at junctions and also reacting to road signs. I thoroughly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a driving instructor. Thanks John.

John has been a great driving instructor. His lessons were very focused around what I needed to improve on which was very helpful as it came closer to my test. John was very good at going over things in detail and made sure I fully understood which helped me make less mistakes. I feel confident now about driving on my own - something I was always worried about, but I feel John has covered everything needed. Thank you very much John!

I started taking refresher lessons with John having already passed my driving tests. I had not driven for four years and didn't feel confident or comfortable behind the wheel anymore. Essentially I had to relearn how to drive and John immediately put me at ease and explained how best to go about getting back into the swing of driving. We created a plan together, both from the first lesson and every lesson thereafter, which ultimately John wanted to be led by myself. This entailed what aspects of driving I wanted to go over or felt I needed to do to again in order to regain my confidence, whether this be relearning clutch control or navigating roundabouts. John also offered his own suggestions for gaps in my driving. What I really appreciated about John's methods of teaching was that he was always patient and understanding, yet fair with his assessments of my driving and with pushing me out of my comfort zone in a safe and controlled manner. Furthermore, I liked that John always asked to what extent I wanted him to interject during my driving - for example, this could be fifty per cent of the time or not at all. I also welcomed John explaining what we were going to do and things to look out for before we started each lesson. Similarly we dissected the drive after each lesson to iron out any errors for the future and also set out a plan of action for the next lesson. I can tell John has a wealth of knowledge and experience from years of driving and teaching so you feel in very safe hands. I never once felt in danger and John is great at making you feel at ease and a calming presence if you're anxious about driving. He is also always up to date with the highway code and new implementations or revisions which is often an overlooked aspect of becoming a responsible driver by instructors. I could not recommend John enough, both for someone looking to regain their confidence behind the wheel or driving for the first time and preparing for a test. John has brought back my confidence in driving and instilled into me good habits that I will take forward after being a shadow of my former self in the car.Moreexpand_more

John is a great driving instructor and I would recommend to anyone that is wanting to learn to drive. He has given me so much confidence from day one. He is very easy to get along with, is very patient and explains everything so clearly. We had a few laughs during our lessons and I am very grateful for everything. Thanks John.

John is a great driving instructor, I was with him from a beginner with no driving experience, he covered every topic well and made sure I was ready for my test in time. I passed first time with 4 minors, we did mock tests to find out my weak points and amended them for my real test, I would definitely recommend John as a driving instructor if you are planning on taking your driving lessons.

John is a fantastic driving instructor, he really got me through them first nervous weeks of driving for the first time and eventually built my confidence up to become a confident driver and pass my test. Johns prices are also very reasonable compared to other driving schools and can also fit your lessons in to times that are suitable to you. Thanks for all your help John.

John Was a great driving instructor for me, he really pushed me every lesson to the perfect amount where it wasn’t too difficult yet not too easy, he also really helped with putting in extra hours for me when getting closer to my test date, which was a squeeze, for example working hours over a bank holiday weekend, these extra hours allowed me to fix errors I was making and be able to pass first time with just 3 minors. I would definitely recommend john as your driving instructor!

Usually I don't write reviews, but I really wanted to write a review about John and his driving lessons. I am 43 years old and I am a fully qualified driver, but I don’t have much driving experience in the UK and especially in busy towns/cities. My work office moved, and I needed to start driving to get to the office. So, I found John’s details on the internet and messaged him. I explained the situation that I need quite urgently driving lessons. So, he got back to me straight away, and I got even two lessons on next week. I was quite nervous at the first few lessons, and I did have quite a few bad habits which John pointed out straight away and we started working on them: harsh breaking or I tend to use breaks often when I don’t need, instead of using a clutch. We worked on clearance and meeting a lot because I didn’t have much experience in this area. I’ve had 6 lessons so far and I can feel that John managed to bring my confidence back and I already managed to go to the office on my own. I decided to carry on with his lessons, because I can see that I am still learning many vital skills from John which can be very helpful in the future. Without any doubt I would highly recommend John for anyone who is looking for driving lessons as a beginner or who needs to build their confidence back in driving. John has an excellent teaching approach. He is amazingly calm, patient, very polite, and professional. Even I already have my driving license, but he never commented that I should know this or that if I am qualified. He understood my situation and was very supportive. John was a really great instructor. He was always calm and explained everything clearly. I have a specific learning difficulty (dyspraxia/dyslexia) that made learning to drive a bit harder than usual, but John was very patient and kind with teaching. His mock tests were also very helpful and fully prepared me for test day. I never felt as though he was just trying to get mote lessons out of me, as he encouraged me to go to test when I felt ready. I would genuinely recommend learning with John, if you want to be a confident driver once you’ve passed your test (as I am now)!

I admire John’s professionalism and his passion for driving, which he uses to teach his pupils. He has been a brilliant instructor and has been pointing out every single detail of my drive correcting my errors to make me a perfect driver. His method of communication is calm and his explanations are very easy to understand and remember. I have had a wonderful experience learning from John and would definitely recommend him to anyone interested.

We enjoyed learning with John and passed our test within four months. John was a kind, patient and clear instructor who prepared us well for out test.

John's highly detailed and logistical thinking is exactly what I needed in order to pass my test. After I failed my first test and my old tutor had to stop teaching because of an operation I was suggested John. He has a keen eye for what people do wrong and helped me gain confidence behind the wheel. If I feel like I ever lose confidence while driving, it's highly likely I will return to John for more tutoring. Couldn't suggest him enough to a new driver or one like me who had trouble passing their test a first time!

My experience with John Kerr and Drive and Pass:I've had a countless number of instructors in my time learning to drive, none have ever come close to the professionalism and expert level of knowledge held by John Kerr. Unlike a lot of instructors, John prides himself in making you the best driver you can be. You're not just trained to be at pass standard, instead, you are trained to tackle any situation the roads have for you. At the end of each lesson, there would be an in-depth debrief to discuss how you thought the lesson went and where you could improve. John consistently made sure that every minute of the lesson was used to effectively to most improve your driving and often went overtime to make sure you would leave the lesson feeling great. As well as taking it very seriously, John was a very friendly instructor and his humor made the lessons that much more enjoyable. I had lots of trouble with moving off and clutch control but with well structured/organised lessons and solid tactics/drills I was able to overcome my issues. Nothing was difficult to understand as everything was clearly instructed. Very useful visual aid accompanied every lesson and classes were made to fit around your schedule. Friendly instructor, would not have gone anywhere else to have learnt how to drive.

John made sure I was always able to have a lesson when best suited me. The teaching style was great: there were clear lesson plans and an explanation of what each manoeuvre and exercise would require and the debrief at the end of the lesson allowed me to think about my mistakes and where I could improve for next time.
