I contacted Ben to conduct a pre-purchase survey on a Beneteau 28 and found him pragmatic, knowledgable and thorough in his work. He had prior knowledge of the model and provided constructive feedback on issues discovered. He was more than happy to follow up on calls to discuss survey findings and provide advice on potential next steps. Would use Ben again.

I have just used Ben for a pre-purchase survey on a Princess motor yacht and have to say that I have found a surveyor that is down to earth, extremely helpful with advice even prior to his attendance and incredibly thorough. He has a reputation that I have heard make peoples tone change, to along the lines of “Oh my god”. Great if you’re a buyer, not so good if you’re selling a boat that’s not up to scratch. I met Ben at the 2021 Southampton boat show where he gave a very informative presentation on boat surveying. Decided there and then that he should be the surveyor on my forthcoming boat purchase, which was sooner that expected. It was absolutely the right choice. He was very methodical and covered everything, explaining it as he went. The report he produced was thorough and full of added detail, insight and information.

Have now twice used Ben as surveyor for pre-purchase surveys of canal boats - most recently a 30 MT live aboard barge. Ben really is exceptionally knowledgable. He also does everything he can to help you - and the turn-around time on his written report is very quick. I can fully recommend him.

This is the 3rd time over the years I have had the pleasure to have a boat survey undertaken by Ben. We bought a canal boat in lockdown the only viewing we had was via video, however we could see the vessel looked in good condition, clearly we had to have a marine survey. As first time buyers we felt a survey essential although there s always the concern about keeping costs to a minimum too. The pre purchase survey more than paid for itself not just by flagging up concerns that would affect the final purchase price but by giving two novices a far better understanding of the boat and what may be required in the future. Ben has just carried out a pre-purchase survey for us. Buying a yacht hundreds of miles away can be daunting enough, Ben has been great communicating with us at a distance, explaining in detail what he would do, have us a quick call after the survey and produced a detailed report along with his time to answer any questions. Ben carried out a full pre-purchase survey on our now yacht Florence, she is a Discovery 55. His work was was extraordinarily professional and thorough. He produced the most detailed and well documented survey that I have seen. He also prepared a schedule of repair work and oversaw the work himself. Ben is extremely experienced and fairly priced.

Ben is a very professional and knowledge surveyor, he was only 15 minutes into the survey when he spotted a potential serious problem, once the boat was craned out it confirmed his first fear. Luckily I walked away from the sale, saving me a lot of money. He also is a very nice genuine person to deal with. I would have no hesitation in using him again.

I contacted Ben on the recommendation of a friend of mine, from the first initial contact with Ben I felt that I was in the hands of a very. Professional person but also very aproachable, the survey of our narrow boat was all done and completed within two weeks, when Ben was carrying out the survey he explained his findings as he went, I wouldn't have any problem recommending his services, the whole process from start to finish was very professional and very easy.

Ben was contracted to survey my yacht at short notice. Unfortunately he was at the boat show for a week. Somehow he managed to fit me in early Friday morning.
