York Place Studios

What can we say about Dom and Liam, the phenomenally talented brother and sister team at York Place Studios. Other than “BOOK THEM”! From the second I saw their work on the wedding blog “love my dress”, I knew they were the photographers Richard and I would use to capture our April wedding day in Ravenscar, North Yorkshire. Living in Buckinghamshire, but planning a wedding in Yorkshire (where we met at school in the 1980’s), is not without its challenges, but the easiest, and first, decision of all was booking Dom and Liam. We didn’t even consider anyone else. Not only did we hugely admire their work, but they are just gorgeous and they are so interested in getting to understand you as a couple, and are genuinely excited about documenting your Big Day. We just knew that we had hit the jackpot with them. On the day itself, they simply didn’t stop working from early morning to late into the evening. So many guests commented on how hard (but unobtrusively) they worked. They seemed to keep one eye on the indoor action and one eye constantly on the elements so they could “borrow us” for outdoor shots when the light and weather was at its most amazing (we had the coldest, windiest day in April and yet they have captured rare moments of blue sky and streaming light). I have always been blown away by the views from Ravenscar, and Dom and Liam have managed to capture it in the most glorious images I have ever seen of my favourite spot!We will treasure our photos. Every time we look at them they bring back the fun and the emotion of the day (and some candid shots make us belly laugh every time we look at them!). My husband and I got married in August 2012. After having a look at various photographers, we came across Dominique and Liam's website. We loved the photos on their webpage and made an appointment to visit. Dominique was kind enough to open her studio on a bank holiday for us to visit. From the moment we stepped inside, she made us feel really at ease. She showed us loads of photos and we fell in love with them immediately. They were stunning. After spending about 2 hours with her, we left to 'have a think', but got no further then 10 feet when we turned back round and booked there and then. We met Dominique and Liam about 2 weeks before our wedding for our engagement shoot so that we could get used to each other. They chose a setting that was perfect for us; on the beach. We felt so at ease with them and we had lots of laughs throughout the shoot. On receiving our engagement pictures, we were over the moon! They were stunning and we knew our wedding ones would be the same. On the big day itself, Dominique and Liam arrived early to take pictures of everyone getting ready and stayed with us until just after the first dance. They made us all feel at ease and were excellent with the 5 little bridesmaids and 2 page boys that we had!Their style of photography means that they are unobtrusive. I can honestly say, we never knew they were there. They blended in with all of the guests and so many of our guests have said how wonderful and friendly they were. We received our photos a few weeks later and we were absolutely thrilled with them. Your wedding day is such a big and important event and you want photos that capture the feeling of the day and all the special moments that you remember. Dominique and Liam captured everything. The photos are so natural and have a timeless feel about them. We have some great photos of our little nieces and nephews as they were playing at the reception and being spun around in mid air by their dads! These are the little things that we may have missed seeing but Dominique and Liam have captured. Our photos are stunning. We are now in the process on deciding which pictures to put into our album, but it's going to be so hard as there are so many that we love. Excellent service, 10 out of 10 and would definitely recommend them. Thank you Dominique and Liam and the rest of the team at York Place studios. As soon as we saw the pictures Dominique and Liam had taken on their website of other weddings, we knew that was who we wanted to photograph our special day. From spending time with Dom and Liam we couldn't have asked for two better people to share such a memorable day with us. Photographs are a very personal part of the day and they captured the day so beautifully. The day was very relaxed and the pictures very natural, the pictures show just how happy everyone was. :). Finally the time came to view our pictures, and we were over the moon. The day went by soooo fast and we are so thankful we have our love story made up with pictures from the day we will never forget. Not only did we get fantastic pictures we made three new friends. Absolutely brilliant! We used York Place Studios for our wedding in June this year and are so happy that we chose them. From the outset they provided efficient and friendly service, with helpful advice and suggestions via email (for example, suggesting a great location for our engagement shoot which we would never have found ourselves). As part of the wedding package we had an engagement shoot which gave us the chance to get used to being photographed. We were thrilled with the results of our engagement shoot and both Dominique and Liam put us at ease (not an easy thing to do when you're unused to having your photos taken by professionals! ). They are extremely creative and strike a perfect balance between suggesting poses/backdrops etc whilst retaining a 'natural' appearance to the photos and letting you be yourselves. The photos from our engagement shoot came through quickly and gave us reassurance ahead of the wedding that we were in good hands. Before our wedding they contacted us to check what time to arrive and what group photographs we wanted, again offering helpful guidance where it was needed. They were wonderful on the big day, blending in when it was appropriate, but ensuring that they got fabulous shots. Having 2 photographers there meant that special moments were captured from 2 different angles - a real advantage. They are absolute professionals yet also friendly and approachable - exactly what you want on an important occasion. Our wedding photos were ready when we got back from our honeymoon, and were beautifully presented in a lovely gift box with a bow. Dominique and Liam covered our wedding at the end of June this year and we also had an engagment shoot with them a couple of weeks before the wedding. They are fantastic, they really make you feel at ease and their photographs are just stunning. They stayed with us from getting ready at the hotel before the ceremony until well into the disco at the reception so they really do cover all of your wedding day. Their candid photographs are great and really captured the feel of the day. They were very easy to keep in contact with and quickly responded to emails in the lead up to the wedding. They were also very speedy at returning the photo CD after the event, we received it just over a month after the wedding, which was great. Overall a very professional, friendly and extremely talented duo who we wouldn't hesitiate to use again in the future!

My husband and I used York Place Studio's to capture our very special wedding day in October 2011. After extensive research we decided to use York Place Studio's because of their ability to capture natural yet traditional photo's from what we saw from previous weddings they had covered. I have always hated my photograph being taken however after speaking to and seeing Dominique, she really did make me feel at ease. We had a engagement shoot 2 months before our wedding and honestly, I've never had so much fun having my photograph taken. Dominique really did make me feel at ease and told me how to pose properly and how to bring the best out of me. Both Dominique and Liam were highly professional but also had us laughing all the way through. On our actual wedding day Dominique and Liam arrived early and took photo's of the venue which we didn't even know about until we saw the proof copies of all the photos. They were amazing! No one noticed the photographers throughout the whole day, unless it was for the group photographs so there was alot of natural shots which are the kind of photo's we wanted. Dominique and Liam thoughout the whole process were friendly, professional and caring. If you are wanting a day to remember then this is the company to go for! You will not be disappointed! I have already recommended this company to family and friends and I would highly recommend them to anyone else. They do amazing photograghs for all occasions! We asked Dominique and Liam to be our wedding photographs for our special day on 2 June 2012, and we are so glad that we did! The photographs they produced were absolutely stunning – we were so pleased with them! The portfolios on their website truly reflect the consistent quality they deliver; they provided the full range of the usual standard family posing shots and work right throughout the day. However, what we liked most were the large number of natural shots (especially black and white ones) they captured – we hardly knew they were there most of the day and as their photography is taken so unobtrusively. This is key to getting those natural images. We’re just left now with the difficult task of choosing from the copious number of excellent photographs to select for our wedding album! Dom and Liam photographed our wedding in 2010. They were amazing - not just myself but the wedding party all admired their friendly, amicable approach, their organisation and their fun attitude to capturing unique pictures alongside traditional wedding photos. The turnaround was quick and the images we got back were excellent. The package was also good value. I can't recommend them enough, and will use them again for any future professional photographic requirements. I love looking at their pictures of other events as well because there will always be amazing images to see!

For my wedding last year, my husband and I used York place studios, they were absolutely fantastic. Not only did they produce the most wonderful photographs, they listened carefully to everything we wanted. Our album is beautiful, every time I look at it I am taken back to nearly every moment in our special day. I love that the photos told a story. Dominique and Liam, although you knew they were there, you forgot because they made you feel so comfortable. Their ideas are unique, especially, a particular picture of the church we were married in, lots of different shots made up the wonderful image. I loved the fact there was two photographers, it meant there was such a range of different shots from so many different angles. We were lucky enough to have some special photos taken, on our wedding day, down by the harbour and they were so beautiful. We were made to feel very special. I enjoyed looking through the photos with Dominique afterwards choosing the best photos (It was difficult because there were so many) I really appreciated all the time and effort she spent with me. My husband Paul and I used York Place Studios for our wedding photography In Feb 2012 – it was one of the best decisions we made. We chose them (after extensive searching) because looking through their work their photos were amazing. Rather than seeing lots of posed, set up shots we liked the fact they captured guests during the wedding day and felt they told a story about the day, the venue and the guests. We also liked the fact we received all of the photos rather than a selection (this amounted to 980 fantastic photos from the day! ). I have never really liked having my photo taken (very un-photogenic) so was also very nervous about choosing someone who would understand this. After meeting Dominique and discussing ideas and with the added benefit of having an engagement shoot (I scoffed at this idea at first) we booked them immediately. The engagement shoot turned out to be another great added bonus to the package. We were initially contemplating not taking part in this but I’m so glad we did. It was a great chance to talk with Dominique and get comfortable with having our pictures taken, taking away all worries which increased my confidence. It also helped us to look at the venue with possible photo locations so that we didn’t have to waste time on the day. The engagement shoot photos were brilliant. On the day Both Dominique and Liam were fantastic, very professional and very discreet. My guests were amazed they stayed the whole day and well into the night and were shocked at the photo’s as they were completely unaware that they were being taken. I think this has been completely captured and I am thrilled with the results. I love the fact they did not use flash as I was also unaware I was captured in so many photos and the results of the pictures are so great.
