About Yoga @ The Sun and Moon
Yoga @ the Sun and Moon is a specialised service offering hatha yoga tuition and meditation to groups in the Gateshead and Newcastle areas. Since 2020 all my classes are online.
Yoga is widely shown to be a gentle and safe way to relieve stress, increase flexibility and suppleness and improve general health. Hatha yoga is the traditional form of yoga that has been practised in this country for many years using postures, special breathing and relaxation techniques.
Yoga tuition is provided by Christine Evans who is a British Wheel of Yoga trained teacher. (The British Wheel of Yoga is recognised by the Central Council for Physical Recreation (CCPR) and Sport England as the national governing body for yoga. ) Christine is also a Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs registered teacher and Bones for Life / Movement Intelligence certified teacher.

I can highly recommend the Gentle Yoga class held at Swallwell on Monday mornings. It’s a lovely start to the week and Christine encourages and supports everyone to exercise within the limits of their own ability. A great mix of exercise and relaxation.
I go to Christine's yoga class on a Friday and it is brilliant. After a stressful week at work it is exactly what you need. The voucher system makes it fantastic value as it's less than 5 pounds per class and you don't have to sign up to a course.
I have quite a stressful job and Christine's classes really help me to wind down from a hard day at work. Christine asks for any requests that we have at the beginning of each lesson and has helped me prepare for half marathons and long walks through exercises that we perform in the class. Christine is very friendly and knowledgeable and offers good explanations throughout the class. There is good variety in the classes and Christine sometimes offers themed classes such as 'get out of bed yoga' which are great.
Really love the classes, although not able to go as often as I would like and really notice the difference if I've not been for a while. Christine is lovely and welcoming and always gives alternatives for each posture to accommodate various levels and abilities. If you've never done yoga before or are a little rusty then these classes will break you in gently.
Excellent expert yoga instruction, really enjoy the class and the benefits it brings. Students are encouraged to work to their own limits and are well advised and given alternatives if they have any problems which may prevent them from acheiving some of the yoga poses and sequences.
I have attended the weekly Monday yoga class for over two years, and thoroughly enjoy it. This yoga is perfect for those who wish to relax (physically and mentally), whilst improving flexibility, core strength and balance. The class is small and friendly and I have seen many abilities and needs catered for by our ever calm and cheerful teacher Christine. You don't need to bring any equipment with you if you are trying out the class, as Christine has plenty of mats and blocks you can use. The voucher system makes regular attendance very good value.
I've been attending the Wednesday class for about 4 years and I'd be lost without it. It's more than a physical yoga class, you learn a great deal about other aspects as well; breathing techniques, meditation, philosphy etc. Christine is an inspiration.
I attend the class once per week and enjoy it very much. The quality of the instruction is very high and the instructor Christine creates a friendly atmosphere to practise yoga.
I started Christine's yoga classes approximately 5 years ago now after I hurt my back. The classes are great, they are varied, informative and friendly. Christine is a really good teacher who manages to pitch the class so that both newcomers to yoga and those who have been doing it for longer are catered for. The classes are pay as you go, so no signing up for so many weeks then loosing out when for so reason you are not able to make a class. If you are thinking about trying yoga give this class a go!
I have been attending one of these classes every week for some time and they are always very well structured with a stimulating variety of activities and ending with a wonderful short period of relaxation Christine offers a wealth of advice and variations, taking into account individuals' needs and preferences. I get a great sense of well being after every class - it's a real highlight of the week! .
