The Veterinary Physiotherapy Clinic has excellent equestrian facilities, including large stables and an outdoor arena. Facilities for dogs include a large heated hydrotherapy pool, as well as laser therapy.
Physiotherapy is the use of various techniques to prevent and treat problems associated with movement, such as : pain, stiffness, paralysis, weakness, lameness, changes in gait patterns and poor coordination. Conditions frequently seen include: arthritis, nerve damage, back pain.
Canine hydrotherapy is extremely useful for dogs who suffer from conditions such as cruciate ligament disease, hip dysplasia, oseoarthritis, spinal conditions and obesity. Elderly dogs who are stiff, sore and reluctant or unable to exercise as before can find a new lease of life with regular hydrotherapy/physiotherapy in water.
Hydrotherapy can also be just for fun and fitness. Agility and show dogs, for instance, regularly attend to improve muscle tone and cardivascular fitness.
