Welcome to Straight From the Cow - the best source of fresh RAW MILK in the UK !

We are proud of our home-grown herd of Montbeliarde and Fresian dairy cows who graze on lovely green grass in the summer and our own feed in the winter months.

Some great ideas for using our raw milk are to make delicious Bread and Butter Puddings, creamy rice puddings, tarts, quiches and superb tasting mousses and cream. Delicious for breakfast over cornflakes or cereal and great with porridge too. Our milk leaves a long-lasting creamy flavour with coffee and tea and it is widely accepted that raw milk can help with various allergies. Our cows like it and we like if our raw milk helps you to feel better !

It has been a wonderful journey for us at Carpenters Hill Farm from having to muck out over 200 dairy cows and milk from dawn til dusk just to keep the supermarkets content to now being able to meet and get to know our customers, run a much smaller herd where we can tend to them more individually an create some great tasting and 100% 'Straight from the Cow' products.

Latest offerings are : Freshly-made really creamy Ice Cream which tastes fantastic - flavours include chocolate, vanilla, plain, salted caramel. We have a great range of chicken, bacon (smoked and rashers, first-class hung and aged Hereford Beef as steaks, joints, minute steaks and beef mince. Our very special range of sausages including garlic and pork, apple and pork, sage and pork, chilli and pork together with a similar range of beefburgers. And we are pleased to now provide a wide range of 'Fowlers' cheeses (we have an arrangement that they utilise any 'extra' milk we might have - they are a great company to do business with that really understand farmers and farming.

So try using our burgers to make tasty meatballs with pasta (simply divide into two and roll in some flout into balls and then fry and add a tomato sauce and pasta); or try our plain and vanilla ice creams with 'Pomegranite Molasses sauce' (Sainsburys sell it) for a great combination of piquant sweetness and creamy delight; or try using ourt beef mince in a 'dry curry' - simply fry the beef (which has some natural fat within it)in a hot pan with just a smidge of oil and add 'Ras al Hanout' and a dash of fish sauce. Keep frying the beef until it goes a deep brown colour then add some chopped spring onions and when they have been cooking for 3 minutes serve up on a bed of basmati rice - simply delicious, very morish and will reduce the family to silence as they eat in delight !

We are so pleased to have found this farm. I’m converted to raw milk which tastes so much better than supermarket milk, and it directly helps Heather and Rob, the milk is very fresh. They also offer a very good range of pies, meat, eggs, cream, yogurt, butter, bread and rolls. It is only three minutes from the A435 making it so easy to reach.
Response : Thanks Peter for your lovely review and we love the fact that you enjoy the milk so much. Do remember to try our ice cream - even in winter with your Christmas pudding ! Cheers, Heather & Rob and The Happy Cows.

We have been visiting straight from the cow for a while and we buy a variety of products from them, I regularly buy my raw milk ( which is particularly good for you ) eggs bread meat and veg from here as I pass on a daily basis but it is well worth popping in to check out what they sell because the difference from the supermarkets speaks for itself. I particularly like the meat you can definitely tell that this is good natural meet the beef is absolutely wonderful you will never taste a better steak outside for five star restaurant. The staff are always pleasant, chatty and welcoming. Thank you Heather, Rob, Sally and Chloe.
Response : Hey thanks for your review Rob Sally & Chloe ! We agree - best sausages, burgers, hams (try our hams and cook them at home! ), bacon and eggs. Cheers, Rob & Heather xx.

It lovely to have found you on Somertown farmers market, Oxford. Your raw dairy products have great tastes and give distinct health benefits to us. But where were you last Sunday in November? Will you be there next week?

I tried the milk last week having bought it from Droitwich Farmer's market. It is so superior to ' normal ' milk - tastes like milk used to! We always buy mince, sausages and occasional steak from Carpenter's Hill Farm, which is wonderful and means that I can't buy supermarket meat now! It's great to be able to trust food again!
Response : Thanks Jane and so glad you like the milk ! Not only does our milk taste more creamy but there is a lot information out there which indicates it has good health qualities too. The most rewarding thing for us (and our cows) is that the milk they produce is not being smashed-up and ho'moo'genised like supermarket/shop-bought milk but is just as natuure intended plus we are only a small farm and seeing our milk go to nice customers we can actually meet is great ! (PS I agree about the steak - we may not be cheap as chips but boy I would put our thick fillet steaks up against any French cordon bleu).

I have tried both the pork and beef meats which were both delicious! The quality of the meat is much better than the one you can get from the stores as it does not shrink or release lots of water when you cook it. Obviously the difference is also noticeable in the taste and texture of the meat as it is a lot more tender. I would recommend their products to anyone who loves great food and products! I unfortunately cannot comment on the milk as I do not drink milk myself but I loved the meat!
Response : Dear Marine - so glad you like the pork and the beef. Yes our meat won't release water and there a few things you can do with it which are not possible or certainly much more difficult with supermarket meat a couple of suggestions are : Dry Beef Curry Try a 'dry' beef curry with our mince - put the mince in the pan with some olive oil and some 'berbere' spice and also some coriander and a little fish oil (this maks it slightly salty). Gently fry the beef mince and stir it occasionally until it has a nice aroma (usually about 10-15 minutes) put in some choppd-up spring onions and cook together for a few minutes and serve with basmatic rice. It's about as 'moreish' as you can get and you and your partner/wife/husband will eat in silence just smiling at each other as it is so tasty. The reason our beef works so well is that the 'marbled' fat within the beef is retained and acts as a cooking medium for the beef meat in the mince. The second suggestion comes from our neighbour John who purchased out beefburgers and sliced in two and then moulded them into balls with some flour and olive oil and then cooked them in them in the pan with a tomato sauce to create lovely tasty meatballs. He swears by them but we have now managed to persuade him the burgers are also good in a bun too with a bit of salad !Look forward to seeing you at the farm again soon and we will be re-organising the farm and offering a slightly wider range of eggs, milk and fresh meat soon,Heather.Moreexpand_more

Excellent local produce that serves the local community well. We'd like to keep them a secret so its just us that use them but, they need to grow the business and deserve success for all their hard work in a tough enviroment.

It's great to see an honest business doing a great job from providing nice fresh milk to the tasty beef. In a day and age where you get what you pay for they provide value for money and a nice friendly service all I can say is give them a try and you won't be dissapointed.

Started buying milk from the farm to support a local business but was blown away by how different it tastes to the shop bought "rubbish" that I used to get. Completely different product and well worth every penny. Tried some of their beef mince and shin the other day too, it tastes absolutely amazing. Shopping here has ruined supermarket shopping for me as the taste is so superior. I was surprised at what good value their produce was too.
Response : Glad you like the taste Donald and you are one of our most discerning customers ! See you again soon ! Heather.

Beautiful meat (and the milk's great too! ) I guessed it would be good fresh from the farm but didn't expect the quality to be quite so much better than supermarket meat, the richness and depth of flavour were exquisite - will definitely be buying my meat here in future - oh, and I can't wait to try the eggs in fresh pasta. Tim and Evelyn.
Response : Tim and Evelyn,Yes please DO try the eggs - we have just got some more young chicks which are happy and warm in their wooden rearing hut and pen and will be free to scratch around 'au naturale' in the grass and the fields soon with all their other feathered friends. Our chickens genuinely are free range - in fact so free range sometimes they behave like cowboys ! See you again soon and thank you for your support ! Heather.
