About Step-By-Step Counselling & Therapies

Hi, I'm Jen Brown - Step-By-Step Counselling and Therapies, a professional Person-Centred and Integrative Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist, EMDR Therapist and Holistic Therapist, holding a Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, Diploma in Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy, Diploma in NLP and qualifications in EMDR Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness and Holistic Therapies.

I have been a therapist in Bridgnorth, Shropshire since 2009 and have built a thriving private practice with clients often contacting me on recommendation of my services. I have extensive experience working with adults, teenagers, couples and families, am employed part-time as a School Counsellor and offer private counselling, psychotherapy, CBT, EMDR therapy, hypnotherapy and holistic therapies - Reiki, Crystal Reiki, Mindfulness and meditation. My private, relaxing and confidential therapy rooms are just on the outskirts of Bridgnorth, Shropshire. These ground floor therapy spaces are set in idyllic countryside and offer a peaceful and safe environment, where reflection, transformation and healing can take place. They are serviced by local bus routes, have ample free parking and are easily accessible from the surrounding areas of Shrewsbury, Telford, Ludlow, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Stourbridge and Kidderminster. If travel, mobility or distance is an issue for you, I can also offer bespoke online therapy via Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp Video Call, Zoom or Teams and of course via telephone.

I offer 60 minute, 90 minutes and 2 hour sessions, bespoke to your individual requirements and work flexible hours, with both daytime, evening and weekend appointments. I work closely with local GP Practices, receiving regular referrals, and accommodate private healthcare referrals. I also offer bespoke corporate packages to organisations and businesses and provide Supervision to other Counsellors and therapy to training student Counsellors.

I also work alongside Perry and Phillips Funeral Directors, Bridgnorth, to offer a free bereavement counselling service. Weekly 'supportive chats' and monthly group bereavment sessions can be of great support at such a difficult time - please contact Perry and Phillips for further information.

So could you benefit from counselling, psychotherapy or CBT? Realising you may need some extra support can be difficult to accept, but this is the first step in the right direction.

Have you experienced?

Anxiety.
Stress.
A loss, such as bereavement, loss of a relationship or friendship.
Depression.
Abuse.
A trauma.
Health issues.
Work issues.
Bullying or friendship issues.
Low self-esteem or low self-confidence.
Addiction problems.
Anger issues.
Obsessive thoughts.

If you are experiencing any of these difficulties, this is exactly the time when person-centred/integrative counselling, psychotherapy or CBT can help.

So what's involved?
Your initial session will form our introduction, contract and assessment, where both parties will decide whether this form of therapy is right for you. During this initial session, you will of course have opportunity to explore presenting issues and be given opportunity to reflect on areas to focus and be given suggestions on a way forward for you.

Person-centred/integrative therapy offers a safe environment where you can explore yourself and life’s issues without fear of rejection or judgement. In time, you will begin to understand yourself, your strengths and weaknesses and identify how you can move forward and make changes to enhance your life and individual experience. Adapting your coping strategies, learning new skills, understanding what is in your control and how to let go of what is not working for you can simply transform the way you look at and handle situations - which can ultimately change your life.

So could you benefit from hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy can be extremely effective for numerous issues, such as anxiety, stress, low confidence/self-esteem, phobias, weight loss, quitting smoking, IBS, insomnia, alcohol awareness plus much more.

What to expect from your hypnotherapy session? Your initial session will form our introduction, contract and assessment, followed by hypnotherapy and a personalised treatment plan, taking up to 90 minutes. At the end of this session you will have a good understanding of how Hypnotherapy works for you and we will discuss the plan forward for any future sessions. Issues are treated on an individual bespoke basis, with no pre-determined number of sessions. I am mindful of covering as much as is appropriate in each session to help facilitate the changes you wish to make, and pride myself on providing effective therapy in as few sessions as may be appropriate to help make those lasting changes and improve overall well-being. My bespoke ‘Hypnotherapy Programmes’, however, are a set number of sessions and include Hypnotherapy, Counselling and Psychotherapy along with specific techniques and information to offer an effective approach for; anxiety, stress, low confidence, phobia, Insomnia and IBS relief, weight loss and assisting with alcohol awareness and stopping smoking. Please see the therapy fees page, for further details on these specific programmes.

Further hypnotherapy sessions are generally up to 90 minutes long, tailored to your specific requirements and the goals you wish to achieve. As an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist, you can be assured of a professional and ethical Hypnotherapy service, where effective therapy takes place.

I am writing this review in the 'guise' of Jen's Clinical Supervisor. I feel it is important for people to feel assured in knowing they are going to a safe, reliable and empathic practitioner. I have no qualms in recommending Jen to anyone who wishes to explore the challenges they are noticing in their life. She is readily able to hold a safe space, is knowledgeable and has the happy knack of being able to put people at ease, thus affording them increased insights and ways of being. An excellent therapist.
Response : Thank you Sam for your kind reflections and supporting me with excellent supervision. Jen.
