Both Chris's turned up on Saturday and carried out this work:"to erect a ladder to a three floor hight ,blow torch and burn a patch of of felt above the concerned area which was the flat roof above the bath room window and also paint a cold tar solution round the soil pipe that was also in the area, we also made good the plaster in the bathroom"They were very chatty and pleasant, explaining things and answering my questions, I felt that these were the guys for the job. 2 days later and I noticed a leak in the ceiling in the bathroom. I called Chris immediately and was told that I should leave it for a week. I wasn't prepared to do this since the roof was only recently repaired. Chris did not offer to check the leak again and suggested that I get another roofer to inspect his work. I found this frustrating since, my issue was the leak and not his credibility. I emailed Chris again and asked if he would be able to identify and fix the leak, he replied that he could fix the roof, but I would have to get the neighbour to replace their roof as well, since replacing my roof would leave a parting seam that would cause problems in the future. I asked if there was anyway that the leak/roof could be fixed without having to rely on the neighbour and what kind of problems I would be likely to experience if the neighbour doesn;t want to have their roof replaced, his response "well the problem is that the roof is one and it will have to be stripped on your half creating a join that will separate your half of the property and your neighbours ,the thing is if your roof needs replacing then hers is probably shot too and if you get yours done and she don't and then next year or so she starts getting problems she might think that its only started leaking because you have had yours done thus blaming you for her leaks. "I felt that this could't be the only solution, even though Stay Dry Roofing boasts about 25 years experience, it felt as though I was being given the brush off.I called another roofer who had a look at the roof and I asked him the same question about having to get the neighbours roof replaced, I was told that the installation of an up-stand between the adjoining property would mean that the neighbour would not have to replace their roof and would also mean that my roof and their roof and any problems with it would be separate. So, my suspicion that I was given the brush off by Stay Dry Roofing was correct. I will not be contacting them again and I am very disappointed that I have paid 250 and still have a leaking roof. What has disappointed me most is that I would have expected any decent person with 25 years experience in roofing to have returned to check the problem, even if extra work was needed and there were extra charges, at the very least, that would have shown good customer care. He received £250 for just over 2hrs work and as I understood it, the bathroom hole repair was included in this (I provided the materials). On the grand scale of things £250 for not doing the job and covering a small hole in the ceiling using my materials isn't too bad. To be honest, there's many more 2 minute "goodwill gestures" that he should have completed in order for me to get my monies worth. Customer service is so much more than a friendly smile and a laugh, and it's much more than a small "goodwill gesture".Moreexpand_more
Response : Well I think this is unfair and was a bit upset when I see this review and the only reason I asked her to get a roofer to look at my work was because she seemed to doubt my opinion and workmanship, when asked about what more she could do because the water was still leaking through I told her that it was not worth repairing no more as it don't seam to help and her roof must be in need of a total recover for which I advised her that if this was to be done as its a shared flat roof then I would...
I only charged her two fifty for the work that I done and I also made good the whole in the bathroom as a goodwill gesture,.Moreexpand_more
