About St Ives Boats - Dolly P
We offer daily boat trips leaving from St Ives harbour at Seal Island or across the bay at the famous Godrevy lighthouse we explore one of the UK’s most stunning areas.
Seal Island lies 3½ miles west of St Ives, along the rocky Cornish coastline. This rocky outcrop, near Zennor, is home to a colony of Grey Atlantic Seals, where they feel safe, protected from predators and the forces of the Atlantic Ocean.
Thought to be the inspiration for Virginia Woolf’s “To the Lighthouse”, Godrevy Lighthouse stands 26 meters high and is one of the coast’s most famous landmarks.
Our Easterly trip across the bay in the direction of Newquay offers views of Porthminster and Carbis Bay beaches before passing the long, sandy shores of Hayle Towans towards Gwithian and Godrevy.
Along the way keep lookout for the local wildlife. Dolphin sightings have become more frequent as both common and bottlenose dolphins pass the bay. A wide array of sea birds are seen and less often sharks and even whales are spotted.
The Lighthouse, built in the late 1850’s hosts a colony of Atlantic gray seals and a fascinating history.
