Sian Carys Allen - Singing and Piano Teacher - Singing Masterclasses

Over the course of several lessons, Sian has helped me with vocal placement, voice projection and resonances and has developed my understanding of Bel Canto technique which was a totally new world of singing for me. Sian's patience and good humour in her teaching approach enabled me to learn in a completely unpressurised environment. I would highly recommend Sian as a singing tutor.

I have two lessons so far with Sian after a gap of more than 30 years. She is very encouraging and makes me feel there is light at the end of the road! I am thoroughly enjoying my lessons which are pleasurable and constructive to an almost novice. A first class teacher.

My son (aged 15) has been having piano lessons with Sian for about nine months. In that time he has gone from not knowing anything about music, or piano, to being able to read music and play lots of different pieces. Sian has also introduced him music theory, which has really helped him understand what he is doing and has helped with his playing. Sian is very approachable and easy to talk to and my son enjoys the lessons he has with her. I would recommend her as a music teacher.

Daughter 14 requested singing lessons and we were very lucky to find Sian had space to tutor her. We have found Sian to be friendly, professional and accommodating. Hazel always enjoys her lesson, her vocal technique has improved greatly, as has her confidence. We have on occasion had songs from her school play rolls to learn, and Sian has encompassed this in to the lesson. Sian has the great ability of explaining in a concise way, 'how' she would like her student to sing. Hazel fully understands what she is being asked to do to make improvements.

I had my first lesson with Sian on Saturday im a total novice and was worried I wouldnt pick it up. I didnt need to worry because Sian made me feel at ease we started with a cuppa and chat. Which helped me to relax. Then we went through the basics. I payed for an hour but got a lot more time than that. Looking forward to my next lesson this Saturday. I Would recommend Sian to anyone she is brilliant.

I have been having weekly singing lessons with Sian for approximately 3 months now. My music background is serious amateur, performing reasonably regularly. I play the Acoustic Guitar, primarily. I wanted to have singing lessons as I wasn't happy with my singing ability, which was affecting my confidence performing live. Simply put: I knew nothing about singing (other than being in tune), I just knew I wanted to be better at it. The style of music I perform is contemporary folk music. I searched local singing tuition and found Sian advertised. The selection of styles covered appealed to me, as well as her also teaching the piano and her credentials. I took a chance on those things alone and I am very pleased I did. Sian is wonderful to work with and I enjoy her lessons immensely, she is very welcoming and warm and any nerves were quickly clamed upon meeting her. My confidence has improved greatly since I have been receiving tuition and the improvement in my singing has been noticed by myself and various other people who heard me perform before and since. Sian has been incredibly generous with her time, care and knowledge. I had never considered the techniques required to sing well. Sian has been teaching me many techniques to improve the sound, clarity, projection and emotion conveyed in my voice, she gives constant feedback and is very patient as I have begun to learn these. So much singing technique is almost abstract compared to playing technique, it has been very interesting to treat the voice as an instrument and begin to learn the techniques to control it properly. As I mentioned, it has been a lot of fun, also. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sian to anyone looking to improve their singing. She is vastly over qualified to tutor me, although, I would warrant even advanced students could learn a lot from her. I know she teaches a lot of children with great success, also.Moreexpand_more

Sian is an exceptional teacher with gift for encouragement and disciplined learning. As someone slightly terrified of the piano it is a relief to find someone so experienced, and, importantly, able to tailor lessons to me.
