About Shiatsu Sue Cooper

Shiatsu, Reiki, Indian Head massage I treat in Ashburton and Chudleigh and for those unable to get to those locations or manage stairs I can make home visits.
Sue has 11 years experience healing with shiatsu.
Releasing tension through stimulation of key acupressure points, with gentle movements and stretches, Shiatsu addresses recent and entrenched health issues that hold us back, rebalancing and revitalising by restoring the flow of ki in the body’s energy pathways.

Prior to the shiatsu she also trained in Indian head massage which is a great stress buster.

Reiki is now in Sues portfolio of alternate therapies which is great for rebalancing and assists the body's own natural healing abilities. It makes a perfect treatment for those who find any form of touch painful after trauma.

Shiatsu is basically acupuncture with out the needles.
The richness and depth of shiatsu theory not only allows for a more symptomatic relief of many health problems, but also to look for the source of a problem within a person and the way they are living their life. Through a combination of the hands on shiatsu with simple emotional counselling and support and the giving of dietary, exercise and life style recommendations, many clients achieve a deeper level of healing.

Benefits • It relaxes mind and body • It restores and balances energy • It eases tension and stiffness • It helps posture • It promotes motivation • It is compatible with other medical treatments.

Reiki is a traditional Japanese form of healing that assists the body's natural healing. Reiki is a safe and popular therapy for stress as is compliments any prescribed medication you may be taking. A Reiki treatment typically lasts for an hour and involves me placing my hands just above the areas that need healing and sending restorative energy needed. Many people find a Reiki treatment deeply relaxing and soothing making it an ideal therapy to experience during or after a stressful period in ones life.
Reiki is a gentle treatment and doesn't use any oils or heavy movements. It is perfect for anyone fighting cancer as it doesn't interfere with any of the chemo or radiotherapy medications.
Stress can affect our aura and chakras; through Reiki the body's natural balance is restored and the body is able to return to a harmonic state creating deep relaxation and calm. This reduces anxiety levels and stress which means the individual are able to devote more of their energies towards staying positive and fighting whatever illness the body is presenting.

Indian Head massage originates is a traditional massage treatment originating from India. Massage is given to the shoulders, upper back, arms, neck, face and scalp. The treatment is given with the receiver fully clothed and sitting in a chair. The main benefits of Indian Head massage are in relieving muscle tension and headaches and it is a great stress buster.

Sue's Shiatsu has been an invaluable support over the past few years as I navigated tricky waters. Her energetic work created flow and movement to a situation that felt very stuck and unfathomable. I am so grateful for her generous, thoughtful support. I know that her work was a key part of my healing.

I have been going to Shiatsu sessions with Sue Cooper on a monthly basis, for the past 7 years and have no hesitation in recommending her services. At my first visit in 2015, I was sceptical about the potential benefits of shiatsu, but that first visit corrected a neck problem that I had been suffering from since teenage days and I was converted. Now as I suffer the inevitable aches and pains of ageing, I find that a regular " tune up", helps me to minimise the pain and maximise the movement! I look forward to my appointments and certainly feel the difference if I have to miss them for any reason, (eg lockdown). To anyone seeking a gentle form of assistance with muscular/joint problems or simple relaxation, please try Shiatsu, I am sure you will find it beneficial.
Response : Thanks John, it's always a pleasure to help you.

I have been receiving Shiatsu from Sue for several years to support my health and wellbeing. Sue is vey warm and empathetic, always responsive and tailors treatments to focus on my needs - whether that is shoulder pain, lower back or general relaxation and de-stressing. I always feel better, both physically and mentally, after a treatment and cannot recommend Sue highly enough.

I have had Shiatsu before and thought I knew what to expect. But Sue is a holistic therapist, professional, experienced and seemed to know exactly where to focus on to make me feel relaxed and pain free again. She creates a short consultation before the session and starts to understand if I have any ailments, the sessions are focused on what I needed rather than a set routine. I had been suffering from misalignment in my hips and lower back area for some time, but after the first treatment I felt much better and now have monthly maintenance sessions for relaxation and to keep a check on any current issues I may have. I like the flexibility of either having my treatment at her room or she will come to my home, which means I get to relax completely after the session and not have to drive home! I would definitely recommend Sue to anyone who needs a Shiatsu massage, whether for relaxing or for treatment. Karrie.

I had been having back pain for a while and after the first session the pain had eased to make every day tasks such as cooking bearable again. Sue was able to explain what was she was doing as she was going along and the whole experience was very relaxing.

I have been seeing sue for a shiatsu session each month for the past 2 years. I have rheumatoid arthritis and find the whole experience very beneficial and relaxing. Sue is very supportive and mindful of my condition and only uses gentle effective pressure. I would strongly recommend her and advice anyone to try out her taster session.
Response : Thanks Christine, I always take into account everybody's needs with regards to pressure and specific requirements. My aim is always to give a healing and supportive treatment.

I started seeing Sue for Shiatsu massage Some months ago. At that time an old shoulder injury was playing up and I was in constant pain, and My general health and energy levels were pretty low after a long period of stress. The difference now is significant. My shoulder is free moving and rarely gives me pain and I feel better than I have in a long time. Sue is friendly, calm and informative, and I would recommend her wholeheartedly.
Response : Thanks Mary, you really have come a long way since we've been working together. Keep up the good work and see you soon for your next session.

I've known Sue for a few years now and after seeing me in pain with a frozen shoulder she offered to give me some treatment. Her calm, gentle, caring approach helped relax me when seeing a friend outside of our 'usual social catch up'. She talked me through my symptoms and how her treatment may help me. It was an hour of 'me time' with the added bonus of the treatment helping my shoulder. Sue comes highly recommended for a reasuuring and honest approach to giving you the best she can provide.

I would thoroughly recommend having a massage. Sue's Shiatsu and Indian Head Massages are extremely good and really do make a difference. Sue is very friendly, easy to chat to and puts you at ease immediately. If you have any specific problems, these will be targeted. So why not have a taster session?

I have been recovering from an Achilles injury for some time and Sue has been helping in that recovery. Sue has been targeting specific areas of trauma as well as taking a holistic approach to my healing. I believe her to be an outstanding practitioner and would recommend her to anyone.
Response : Thanks Naomi, it is always a pleasure working with you as your energy is great to work with and definitely helps speed up the healing process.

My wife Lyn and I first started going to Shiatsu Massage with Sue Cooper about a year ago, after Lyn had attended a "taster" session. She was so impressed with the treatment that she made an appointment for both of us. I was typically cynical about the potential benefits of the treatment, but at my first appointment I explained to Sue that I was troubled by a stiffness in my neck, caused by a rugby injury years before. This made me hold my head at an angle. After that very first visit, I was able to move my head normally and was visibly standing straighter. Since then, I have visited Sue on a monthly basis, with a variety of aches and pains and she has provided great relief from the symptoms. I genuinely feel a benefit in receiving Shiatsu Massage on a regular basis and recommend Sue Cooper as a qualified practitioner.
Response : Hi John and Lyn, As two of my loyal regulars I am delighted by your comments and so pleased you value your health and well-being like you do.

Sue's warm, calm, comforting approach meant the session flowed and I felt so looked after, so relaxed and my shoulder movement was definitely improved. Sue's interest in my problems and the time taken to explore them added to the really positive experience.

This lovely gentle treatment helped to repair a back pain that I had had for a considerable amount of time. After the treatment I felt relaxed and confident that sue had worked on the specific area that was giving me concern. A monthly top up should keep everything in tip top shape !
Response : Lisa, thanks for your review. It is great to see that you had some really rapid results and are now pain free. The monthly Shiatsu top up combined with the Makka Ho stretches and nutritional advice is a great way of maintaining your good health.
