"Up-Cycling Furniture and Lives". RECOVER is a vibrant, exciting and inspirational furniture up-cycling Social Enterprise with a fabulous artisan workshop / showroom in WGC, Hertfordshire.
At its heart is our commitment to sustainability by up-cycling unwanted furniture or working with donated and reclaimed materials.
We 'up-cycle lives' by offering our volunteers the opportunity to learn new skills, develop self-esteem, confidence and pathways to employment.
Creativity, fun and professionalism are encouraged and are evident in our splendid 'one of a kind' items.
Our furniture is up-cycled using traditional artisan skills along with innovative creativity. The aim to produce original and functional pieces at reasonable prices.
We begin the process by hand sanding, then priming and often custom mix our own colour palates for the paints. All paints, waxes, varnishes are premium and selected for their suitability for the piece being worked on.
Another aspect of what we do is using donated fabrics - often from well known brands and designers to produce lush and tactile upholstered goods.
One of our signature specialities is collecting empty coffee bean sacks from the importers of the green beans and turning them in to very trendy cushions and bags. We only collect from importers who support the Rain Forest Alliance.

I have purchased furniture, cushions, bags even christmas stockings from Recover over the last few years all wonderfully individual and unique. No hard selling when you arrive just a very warm welcome from all the team who will happily show you around. The team talk with so much passion and pride about the different pieces that have been created it warms your heart. The quality of work is outstanding and shows in all of the wonderful creations that fill the unit. A truly inspirational place that is well worth a visit.

I went to the recover work shop and felt as if I was in an Aladdin's cave, every piece of furnisher large or small was unique and individual. I purchased a chair from Recover which is which is an old swivel wing back chair, this chair was strip back bare then was brought back to life. My chair was upholstered using different fabrics with varies colors and textiles. The quality of work that was put into making my chair was exceptional. I will be back to buy again. Thank you Recover of my lovely purchase and the customer care I received.

My wife and I always pop into Recover when we visit our daughter in Welwyn. We have bought several items, mostly cushions for our house and as gifts. The people there are always friendly and helpful and now they remember us by name which is a rarity these days. As we live so far away we can't buy the larger items of furniture, but wish we could; there are some real show stopping pieces on display. We love the ethos behind Recover and want to support it in any way we can. Only too happy to provide a review for such a worthy cause. We will be back for more gifts before Christmas.
