Northern Lists is first and foremost an arena dedicated to the international phenomenon that is the sport of HMB. Historical Medieval Battle is a combat based team sport, encased in armour each side fights to be the last standing. 5v5 and 21v21 a side being the more popular sized categories in competitions there are other categories such as pole-arm duels and long-sword 1v1's.
The Battle of the Nations organization holds world championships every year and has done since 2010, the UK has a national team that this year came 4th in the 21v21's, Northern Lists is now home to the national team.
To make the sport of HMB accessible to all we practice 5v5 in padded armour with padded swords and shields in a padded arena. You can with very little training experience the thrill of team combat in a safe environment.

Northern Lists arenas are topped with wire cage for audience safety, they are also available for hire as a training facility or competition venue for other martial arts clubs.
Our facilities included our 10 x 7m arena with padded floor and walls with an elevated viewing area large fans to cool the arena.

A sliding pell/punch bag that travels 2 paces by 4, you chase it and it comes right back at you.
Padded armour, padded swords and shields in both adult and child sizes.
Café serving latte, cappuccino, tea etc.

We also have the facility to take the arena on the road bringing 5v5 padded combat to your party or event.
A 10 x 7m straw bale arena will be brought to your venue of choice, set up, all equipment provided, matches marshalled, and bales removed afterwards. High energy entertainment for your clients, friends and family!

We run classes in the week concentrating on physical fitness as well as team tactics and takedowns.
