Matt provided an extremely professional service with regard to the pre purchase survey. He was most helpful on the day of the survey, spending time explaining and discussing points identified and recommended fixes to pragmatically resolve. The survey report was delivered the within 48 hours and was presented in a way that was easy to understand and extract key points that needed to be addressed with the Yacht Broker. I have no hesitation highly recommending Marine Surveys UK based upon the services provided.
The survey, of a 33ft sailing yacht, was really useful to us. The report arrived promptly, and was easy to understand, with no jargon. It was clear that the boat, and all her systems, had been thoroughly gone through. The survey report was very useful to us in our negotiation with the owner. We will also use it in planning future maintenance of our new boat. Thank you!
We purchased our Dufour 36 from 'Ancasta' Chichester last April, and they recommended using Matt for our survey. We were travelling from Cardiff, and Matt was extremely helpful and easy to deal with. I attended for part of the survey, and he took time to talk me over the yacht and….
Absolutely fantastically helpful! Matt went above and beyond in trying to help us organise our prepurchase survey, which was never going to be straight forward. Although the survey never actually happened, it was not for the want of trying on Matt's part. Matt went above and beyond and I would have no hesitation in recommending him. People like this are one in a million!
Matt surveyed my (new to me) 40 year old boat in November, and I was very impressed with the service that he provided. The report was in plain English. Unlike some surveyors, Matt doesn't dwell on unnecessary comment on largely cosmetic defects, but gave me clear information on the major issues that I needed to know about, with advice on how to rectify them. His 'after sales service' in reviewing (without charge) the repair estimates that I obtained was first class. I would happily recommend him and use him again.
As a first time boat purchaser, I used Matt West to survey an elderly Princess Pilgrim early in 2014 and was delighted with the service and his professionalism. I learnt so much about boat construction and boat systems from him by being present when the survey was undertaken, it was doubly valuable. A really nice guy, very knowledgeable and helpful. The report was clear and easily understood and all findings were clearly put into perspective for me. Thoroughly recommended!
As a first-timer to the world of small commercial vessel coding, I was starting from scratch and needed quite a bit of advice. Matt did a great job, supporting me from start to finish and coming up with common sense solutions to potentially tricky problems. I will certainly be instructing Matt for my future surveying needs.
Earlier last year I decided to purchase my first boat, a 1976 Dufour 29ft. I knew at the time that the boat was in need of some TLC given her age and general condition and would become a bit of a "project". What I was not sure about was whether or not it was a safe buy and if the amount of work that needed to be done was could be achieved. This is where Matt of Marine Surveys UK came in. His inch by inch and nut and bolt complete survey was broken down into easy to understand sections that graded the work to be done using a simple star grading system. This enabled me to firstly confirm my buying decision with the confidence and detailed assessment Matt had given but more importantly to plan and prioritise the work that needed to be done. Matt was also on hand post purchase to offer further advice, support and clarification when I got to particular points in my project. I would not hesitate to recommend Matt. He gave me the confidence to make my purchase, undertake the repairs and to have a boat now which has given me many happy hours of sailing.Moreexpand_more
I have used surveyors when buying boats previously and none came up to the standard of service provided by Matt. The survey was extremely thorough and demonstrated Matts' superior knowledge of the industry and of individual boats, both structurally and mechanically. The survey results were in plain english and work required was prioritised very clearly so that I was able to make an informed decision about the purchase. Cost effective, punctual and overall superb service. Thank you Matt.
Matt West from Marine Surveys UK did a detailed and comprehensive survey on our boat before we purchased it. It enabled us to know exactly what we were letting ourselves in for and to adjust the purchase price accordingly. I would thoroughly recommend Matt if you need a marine survey carried out.
Matt was brilliant and the survey on our first yacht, a 2005 Hallberg Rassy 31 (we bought it! , was thorough and easy to understand. He patiently explained everything throughout the day and even negotiated the seller to replace a skin fitting whilst it was in the straps having the hull inspected. The report gave us the confidence and information to negotiate rectifications and the assurance that we were purchasing a good boat. Matt offered great advice on what was needed to be done now and what could wait until next year and what to keep an eye on. Very practical and very pragmatic. Thank you Matt.
We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Matt. This was the first marine survey that we have been involved with. Matt is professional and courteous putting us at ease throughout the procedure. He took time to explain everything that he was doing and did so in non technical terms. At the conclusion of the survey he held a full debrief ensuring we fully understood the findings. We are now the proud owners of a new boat. Thank you.
