My son Adam has really enjoyed this week and the hotel is spotless with amazing food the instructor has been amazing and we hope he gets his pass this afternoon Thankyou for all your hard work Learn Drive I look forward to booking mine. I will post the outcome this afternoon ? .
Absolute shambles…. Website states that course can be tailored to suit you, which I wasn't able to do as the driving instructor only contacted me 3 days before my lessons began and I did request contact before then to fine tune arrangements but was told that cant be done. After 3 days of the instructor consistently bombarding me with prompts, criticisms, vocalised observations and future considerations I was driving very well by his standards, despite me asking him to calm down the amount of talking he was doing during major road obstacles such as busy and complex roundabouts. He did not do this and continued badgering me during critical decision making points to the point where I was overwhelmed and caused a dangerous situation during one of these complex and critical moments. He refused to take me to test due to this stating that he would be available for private tuition only to tell me later than he has no time for me in the following months as a few of his recent students had failed their tests and he had to give them extra time. Mentioning this on the phone to Learn drive I was greeted by a lady who consistently repeated "with all due respect" before defensively explaining that it's all very normal for the instructor not to stop talking, especially during major obstacles, and mock tests; stating that it was definitely my fault that a dangerous situation arose, despite not even asking for my name or my driving instructor or dates of instruction. Took my £1200 immediately though so 5 stars for taking payments, 1 star for considerate or sympathetic concern and 0 stars for consistency, you can't meet or choose your instructor whatsoever or even know their pass rates. My instructor had apparently only instructed for 4 years and regailed me of multiple tales of failed student of recent to then not take me to test out of fear of his own pass rates. Thank you learn drive, for robbing me dry and with no remorse.Moreexpand_more
My daughter did an intense course with this company , her instructor called Steve made her cry her eyes out on first day second day he shouted at her many times constantly criticising her and other woman so ofcourse she lost her confidence. And failed , the things she told me about him suggests that he is a misogynist. He should not be left alone with woman.
Probably cheaper to just go with an instructor, if you fail you have to pay for a retest after already forking out £100s these “courses” aren’t guaranteed passes it’s just like booking a normal instructor but your staying over in a hotel so I’d recommend just finding an instructor do a few £25 lessons and then put in for your test because the rest ewt fee in Blackpool on top of the course fee is £££££.
I completed the 30 Hours course and passed my test first time with having little to no experience and its all thanks to Darren! He was so calm and patient with me I could not of asked for a better instructor I am so thankful for everything he done for me. I also had the most amazing time with Kim in the hotel, she was so kind and welcoming to me and my sister and made sure we were well looked after the whole time. From start to finish the whole experience even down to booking the course has been great would highly recommend it. Thank you!
After reading reviews on here guys you can tell the ones that didnt pass all I can tell you I had a great experience right from booking the course to the end of the course, booking was explained to me Accomomdation was good was looked after I was fed and watered very well while there introduced to my instructor all explained to me what would happen was encouraged throughout put at ease right up to my test at no time was a ever guaranteed a pass that was down to me on the day I listened to the instruction given to me applied it to the practical part of my course and when I did my test forty minutes later I was passed by an examiner so if you dont pass the course you cannot blame Learndrive, or your accommodation, instructor, examiner, only yourself no one else, just accept it and try harder next time it will come but I dont think you will find a more profesional company than Learndrive.
I did 5 days with learn drive a year or two ago. It really upsets me to see the negative reviews as I actually did not get to test standards on my mock exam because I was literally trembling with nerves and as such I didn't pass. I had read a couple of bad reviews (not many) online so it really felt like a risk booking but my instructor was friendly and the boy I shared my driving with did actually pass(he did 7 days) and was also super lovely. The b&b owners were so sweet and kind and catered to my veggie meal needs and I really enjoyed a week in Blackpool driving around and still talk about it to this day. I am currently awaiting new employment and saving up so I can come back and do another course(7 day) all these years later. I can't speak for everyone else's instructor but can whole heartedly promise if I hadn't been so nervous I would have passed and that was all down to my instructor and the b&b staff at learn drive. I hope that the negative reviews aren't true, and would advise you to take your theory test at home so you have less to worry about though. Thanks to my instructor I think his name was John for boosting my driving confidence after driving in London with exploitative instructors ruined it, even when I got to nervous at the end was still work every penny in my opinion.
Well reading through the reviews on here I'd thought I'd put my penny worth in as I took a 4 day shared tuition back in April, , I to was a nervous driver from previous bad experience with other driver instructors but was soon put at ease with the instructor I had. The accommodation was clean tidy and the couple were very nice people. Very much worth every bit of time and money's spent, I passed and have now been driving with confidence since in fact I hit 5000 miles yesterday not bad in 12 weeks ;) , anyhows all the best to future students and to the 1s writing bad reviews I'd suggest to take a look at yourselves 1st.
Hotel done its job, nice couple, great food. I passed with zero faults, and it was all down to my instructor George, old boy in silver focus. He was a chilled out guy who made me feel very relaxed in the car, i just simply followed his instructions and got it done. Thank you George.
I have had a fantastic experience with learn-drive. The tuition was shared (30 hours) in the automatic. I had only limited experience of driving in a manual and never an auto. The instructor was very clear that he wasn't a miracle worker who can help you magically pass a test, if you listen and take on board what is said it should be easy enough for someone with some experience to pass. The hotel accommodation was great, meals and breakfast were fantastic, I couldn't find fault with anything. I did pass but if I didn't the review would have been the same as I went with the understanding I was learning a life-skill and if I passed at the end it was going to be a bonus. You get out what you put in.
I passed last Friday after the 18 hour course :) I had a great instructor, Shane, who made me feel so relaxed and confident, I learnt so much just in the couple of days I was with him, and passed on Friday! The hotel I stayed at was really nice too, good food, very relaxed and friendly place! I really enjoyed the whole experience!
Just got back from a weeks course and I am happy to say I passed! I was concerned by not taking my test in the Blackpool area, but after discussions with their staff I found out that the test centre I went to (Heysham) had a much higher pass rate I was a bit more relaxed. It also meant I got my test within a week of booking. The instructor took me to the test centre in the morning and I have a brief drive round. I didn't know the area, but then again I did not know Blackpool well enough! The test route was really simple - I only remember one roundabout - and after failing on roundabouts before in Leeds it may have been the reason I passed. I opted for the normal accommodation - which was friendly and simple. Nothing amazing, but all that was needed. I recommend the course to anyone.
IN RESPONSE TO THE 'COMPANY RESPONSE' - I was one of your pupils. I can go into particulars about the Hazeldene Hotel (which only takes LearnDrive pupils according to the lovely couple who run it) if other readers are not convinced. I have now responded to your email. As I said in the review I did not take my course in May. May I add that implying I am lying within my review (that you clearly didn't read properly) does little to improve my view of your business. REVIEW - I took a 5 day course some months ago. The reason it has took me so long to post this review is because my experience was so bad it took months before I was confident enough to book a driving lesson. After a couple of weeks my new instructor asked me why I was so nervous and I began to discuss my LearnDrive experience. My instructor was horrified which encouraged me to share my experience with other drivers and learners who urged me to post a review to warn others. My instructor was very poor. I was a novice and very scared of driving when I started the week. My instructors method of "teaching" was raising his voice when I made a mistake, sighing dismissively at my questions and cutting off any explanations or statements I attempted to make by telling me he didn't ask my opinion. I could understand (maybe) his attitude if I was cocky and needed taking down a peg or two but I was a nervous wreck and my nerves only increased throughout the week. Twice I ended our day early because I was simply too stressed and upset to continue. Both times my instructor told me he didn't care as long as I signed his time sheet saying I had a full session. He discussed his previously pupils in incredibly negative terms, all of these stories ended with him gleefully telling me that they failed their test. I could go further discussing his complete lack of professionalism but I wont, hopefully you get the idea. You are probably wondering why I put up with this. Well there were a few reasons 1- There was no information about how to request a change. 2- My instructor told me he was the only one available that week. 3- I had booked a week off work and couldn't afford another. 4- I was alone at the hotel and so had nobody to discuss the situation with. I would say that a residential course is probably not a great idea for a nervous driver. 5- I had no frame of reference to understand just how bad my instructor was, simply put I thought it was normal. I was still hesitant to post such a negative review as some of the other instructors have pretty good reviews associated with them. However it's a lottery and if you 'lose' you end up stuck and unable to decide whether to give up or stick it out. It's difficult for me to judge just how well I would have done with a better instructor. My Learn Drive experience was so poor it's still negatively impacting on my driving now.Moreexpand_more
This experience was a total waste of time and money. Be sure to confirm with the school that your test is actaully in Blackpool and not in the next town or you will have to drive 2 hours on the day of your test nervous and tired to your test centre and end up failing like I did. They dont give you enough infomation and claim to have it all in the terms and conditions. And you dont get the opportunity to even use up all the hours youve booked. DONT USE THEM, THEY RIP YOU OFF!
