I found Hamish when I decided to switch to learning automatic. He’s such a lovely driving instructor and gave me all the information I needed and get me to pass! He’s very kind and the best driving instructor I had would recommend him tons! So if you want to learn automatic he is your guy. ? .

I was recommended Independent driving by a friend. I was lucky enough to be taught by Hamish. Hamish offered a good balance of friendly chat during our lessons while making sure that I was well prepared for my test. Passing first time, Hamish’s use of teaching was essential to this with the use of diagrams for roundabouts (Single and double), dual carriageways, junctions and all sorts of driving manoeuvres, learning was very easy to pick up with me passing within a couple of months while being a very capable driver on the roads. Hamish gave me great material in our lessons which I could then take and practise outside of lessons in my own car. Overall, I am very grateful to Hamish and independent driving for the excellent teaching and helping me excel in my driving.

I was recommended Independent Driving by a friend and very happy. Hamish guided me through each lesson and I was very happy with the progress I made. By talking through everything (with diagrams to help), I felt confident going into my test as I had been equipped with all the skills I needed to pass first time! Hamish let me identify my weak or less confident areas that we could work on more before my test. After every lesson, I was able to have a practice in my own car using the tips Hamish had given me!

I had my lessons with Adam and he was an awesome instructor, always very clear and precise and made lessons enjoyable with conversation as well as firmness when necessary. He was a great instructor who helped me build confidence and secureness on the road. Would definitely recommend Independent Driving School!

Neil was fantastic. My son passed 1st time with just 3 minor faults. Neil stepped in after we were let down by my son's previous instructor, who decided to go on holiday before and during his test. I passed my test today thanks to my instructor Neil J. Neil is a great guy aswell as an great instructor, he was always reliable each lesson, taught me to drive well by taking a calm and logical approach towards things which made it easier to follow his instructions and understand things about the road, aswell as giving me a few good laughs. I would certainly recommend anyone who wants to learn to drive to learn with Neil J.

When looking for a driving instructor, I needed someone who could be flexible with lesson times to accommodate my work schedule. Additionally, I wanted an instructor who struck a balance between firmness and building a positive relationship. It was important to me that they were willing to review previous lessons to ensure my understanding and continuous improvement. Learning to drive initially felt stressful, but after the first two lessons, it became much less daunting. Although I encountered challenges, my patient instructor guided me through each one, helping me build confidence along the way. When evaluating my driving instructor’s teaching methods, I found them effective due to a combination of coaching techniques and practical demonstrations. My instructor used a coaching approach, which empowered me to become my own teacher. Instead of just giving instructions, my instructor had stickers placed at strategic points inside the car. These visual cues reminded me of key steps during maneuvers. There were other visual aids to help as well. These teaching methods enhanced my confidence and skills. I highly recommend this driving school to anyone, regardless of their abilities or needs. After struggling in a manual car, I decided to change to automatic lessons with independent driving school. I had my lessons with Hamish who is a great instructor. He gave me little tips and pointers to navigate trickier scenarios like roundabouts, talked me through my mistakes and consistently gave me positive affirmation when I drove well. Despite being so nervous and worried before my test, Hamish put me at ease before the test, helped me to have confidence in myself and I am so pleased to have passed! When choosing a driving instructor I needed someone to be firm when teaching and to make sure I understood the information I was being taught before I would move on, I also was looking for someone who wouldn’t mind going back on stuff I didn’t understand or forgot when I have already been taught it. Learning to drive was a lot less stressful than I had expected after I had gotten over the fear of being on the roads, my instructors teaching methods enhanced this confidence as he would never touch the controls on the car unless really needed and would rely more on my skills. I would 100% recommend this driving school because they got me to the level of ability that I needed in the right amount of time before my test. I would lastly like to say a massive thank you to Adam for helping me through my journey!

Karen has taught all three of my girls. They are safe and confident drivers thanks to her teaching. Karen has a lovely manner with the girls which installs faith in the skills she has taught them so well. We have all been so happy with the service Karen has provided. The girls have the knowledge and skill to be independent drivers. I would highly recommend Karen to any new learners.

Despite driving a high price, my instructor, Jason allowed me to pass first time with only 20 hours of driving lessons. From clutch control in a quiet residential area to Poole’s complicated roundabouts, Jason knew what I was capable of before I did. He was always friendly and able to explain difficult manoeuvres, including some through the Starbucks drive-thru. Thank you independent driving!

I will always be grateful to Chrissy for teaching me to drive. Having had a motorbike license since I was 18, I decided it was time to learn how to drive a car at 54, all very daunting… I had enquired about lessons with many driving instructors and Chrissy was the only one who even replied to me and she was quick to fit me in and arrange some lessons. Chrissy is an awesome instructor; she matches her teaching style to her student's learning style and does this in a very calm and stress free way. The lessons did not feel like formal teaching, she made it fun and interesting! On my first lesson I explained to her that I had never been interested in cars and that it would take a special kind of instructor to change that and change it she did! She went out of her way to teach me how to drive and not just pass a test, she pushes you to improve without you being aware of it and cares very much about her students. She also has the reflexes of a calm ninja which she once demonstrated as a huge tractor came around a tight country lane! Her point being dealing with it calmly gets us through it and keeps us safe. To take someone who didn't have an interest in driving to find a love for it and pass their test first time takes a special kind of skill and Chrissy has buckets of this.
