Intensive course/crash course
What is an intensive course? An Intensive Driving Course can be the solution to getting through your driving test quickly, and avoiding some of the difficulties that hourly driving lessons can have.
Intensive Driving Courses are especially useful to people with very little spare time in their normal schedule to fit in driving lessons.
Take a week off work, do an Intensive Driving Course, and take your Driving Test. Many Driving Schools offer Intensive Driving Courses that are either not as Intensive as you are originally told, or are badly planned. Some Driving Schools offer set length courses, Without any assessment of your driving! How can they know what length of course you will need just by speaking to you on the telephone? Some Driving Schools will start your course without a driving test booking, and hope that they can find an appointment that someone has cancelled, you might complete your course and not be able to take a test! Before we arrange your Intensive Driving Course we will first assess your driving, both to ascertain your current ability, and also to assess how quickly you learn. Based on this assessment we will advise you of the length of Intensive Driving Course you will need. We will then plan your course with you and book your driving test appointment to coincide with your Intensive Driving Course.
We offer Intensive driving courses in the following areas: Colchester, Clacton On Sea and surrounding villages.
Pass Plus Course
The Pass Plus course is an established training course aimed at new drivers. It was designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DVSA) with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry. Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years after passing their test due to lack of driving experience. Pass Plus builds upon your skills and knowledge acquired during driving lessons. By completing this course you will learn how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, helping you become a more confident driver.
Who Can do Pass Plus Training: You can take a Pass Plus course at any time, but this course is mainly aimed at new drivers in the first year after passing their test.
Pass Plus Modules: The Pass Plus scheme is made up of six course modules. All of the modules must be successfully completed to the required standard. The modules are: - In town.
- In all weathers.
- On rural roads.
- At night.
- On dual carriageways.
- On motorways.
Pass Plus Pupil’s Guide: At the start of your course, your instructor will give you a copy of a document called the ‘Pass Plus Pupil’s Guide’. This guide contains detailed information about all aspects of the Pass Plus course.
Duration: Pass Plus training will take at least six hours to complete, though it can take longer if your instructor thinks it is necessary.
The Training Sessions: Pass Plus is a practical course and all modules should be practical sessions. However, local conditions and time of year may mean that some modules may need to be given as a theory session. A theory session could be given if there is no motorway nearby. Generally at least five and a half out of six hours should be spent in the car.
You will not have to take a test at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed during the modules.
Recording Progress: Your instructor will complete a training report form that you’ll sign and date when you reach the required standard in each module. To pass the course you’ll need to reach a satisfactory standard in all the course modules. You’ll be given a progress record to help you to keep track of your progress throughout the course.
At the End of Your Training: On successfully completing your training you’ll be sent your Pass Plus certificate to claim your discount on your car insurance policy.
