Pete said that to wire up our wireless Honeywell thermostat to our boiler that it would be £45 as it is only an hours work he came at 9. 30 am which he then said it is only a 10 minute job I left him to it and then an hour later wondered what was happening he came down exactly an hour later and said our new thermostat wasn’t working. He said he had one in his van and said it would be £55 I only had £70 on me and he said to fit it as it had gone into the next hour it would be another £52. 50 which we sent to him later in the afternoon. We looked up the price of the thermostat and you can get them for £29. 50 online so he made money from us a cheap thermostat and he went over the hour to get more money to wire it up. He left two hours later after a lot of chat and we feel now we have been robbed and now have to send back our own thermostat when it is highly unlikely there was anything wrong with it he actually just wanted to made some more money ! Not happy and we feel ripped off ! He left two hours later and had made a lot of money out of us !Moreexpand_more
Response : Sorry you were not satisfied Liz I spent an hour trying to get your so called "new" Honeywell wireless thermostat linked to its receiver as well as removing the original one and wiring up the faulty one. The thermostat you supplied me with was in fact a second hand one you bought off eBay and it was faulty. As a result of this I supplied you with an alternative brand-new stock model from my van which has a 5-year warranty. You may of seen one of these on sale for less on eBay ! Now what you forget to mention is this work was done during "out of hours” a Saturday.
A Saturday call out for which I charged you a Monday to Friday call out charge of £45.00. Most other companies would charge you £70 plus for a Monday to Friday. To put it bluntly Liz if you had informed me you bought the Honeywell stat of eBay and it did not come sealed in the original box I would of pre warned you that you would be billed for my time if the unit turned out to be faulty. The only person that ripped you off was the seller on eBay.Moreexpand_more
