Not a good company to deal with after coming into a dispute over a misunderstanding. We initially called Data Clinic to potentially get some data recovered from a mobile phone brought into us from a customer of our own. We explained on the phone that we had already attempted battery and screen to power the phone on. We had no luck with this so decided to shop around for a company who deals with data recovery. We read over a flyer they sent to us via email, and both myself and two members of staff read the same context in the same way. We read two pricing structures. Diagnosis/Standard Processes- £95. Advanced Processes - £195. Data Clinic sent us an invoice of £95 plus VAT for the Standard Processes which involves a new screen, battery, charging port. They take payment for this service and THEN shortly after they send another non-obligation invoice for £195 plus VAT if the standard process hasn't been successful. But they ONLY tell you this after you've paid the first amount of £95 (plus vat). Then we have a heated argument about the fact that we've already attempted the processes involved outlined in the Standard Process to which we shouldn't be getting charged for. Clearly they don't make notes on their systems when making phone calls. You would also assume a phone being sent to them from a "Phone Repair Shop" would have already attempted the basics already. Clearly not!By the way……. We're talking about a 9 year old Nokia phone here. Bearing in mind the screens cost around £5 and likewise with the battery. I'm not sure how Data Clinic can justify charging £95 plus VAT for the Standard Processes when the parts needed to be used cost no more than £15-20. Taking this further with Trading Standards and my bank (luckily we paid on Credit Card not debit card).Moreexpand_more
I had a terrible experience with data clinic. They sent a courier to pick up my Drobo storage unit, and when it arrived at their facility they called me to say the unit had been damaged in transit, and the wanted £200 just to diagnose it, when the diagnosis was meant to be free. They claim it was all due to my packaging. My 11-year-old son put the Drobo in a box, with their courier present. He accepted the package, never said anything about it. Frankly, it looked like it was dropped down stairs, and no amount of packaging would have helped it. I asked them multiple times to own their mistake, but hey refused, even when I said that I would be talking about this experience whenever I could. They won't take any responsibility, and say it's my fault when their courier clearly damaged it. Terrible service, avoid them, especially if you have data that is important to you.RESPONSE: Wow - shrinking to new lows trying to blame the ineptitude of your courier service on my 11-year-old son. He did his best, and your courier dropped my Drobo. It wouldn't have mattered who packaged it. The way you treated it, broke it. It's disgusting that you won't take any responsibility for your mishandling of my unit.Moreexpand_more
I recently used Data Clinic as my LaCie hard drive failed. It was under warranty but needed to get the files off that I couldn’t access so in order to keep it in warranty it needed to be done professionally in a controlled environment. Data Clinic couldn’t get the files off, but no problem they can send it back. I received a hard drive with no shell and without the power cable or USB cable. I can’t get a new one under warranty now as the hard drive has been exposed outside of the dust free environment. To add to this they have thrown away the case, power cable and USB and wont replace them. I asked them to pay for a new one but they won’t. Appalling service. Do not use them.
If your hard drive packs in like mine did (mecanical fault), l thought I had lost 5years of family photos. Rang data clinic who told me that in most cases the data is recoverable, bit the bullet and sent them my hard drive for them to work their magic! To cut a long story short in 7 days I had all my hard drive data back, including my precious photos! Great customer service and a big thank you to Chris and Mike and all at data clinic. Andrew Williams.
Data Clinic provided a very fast quotation that was highly competitive. The process was explained clearly, and proactive updates were received. Both drives they worked on were completely inaccessible, and 100% data recovery was achieved. Data was sent back switly. Highly recommended.
I was at a loss when I thought I had lost the only video clip I had of my deceased father in law on my hard drive after my daughter plugged the wrong power cabl in. Thanks to Dataclinic they recovered all info from my hard drive and even upgraded the standard 500gb hard drive to a 1TB at no extra cost. The service even though I had chose the budget one was excellent and very quick and the staff were both friendly and helpfull. I really can't thank or recommend them enough and will most definately steer people in their direction should they be unfortunate enough to need the same service.
After receiving next to no help from the "Genius" at the Apple Store following the death of my iMac's internal hard drive, I was advised to seek the help of a data recovery agency in the hope of rescuing all of my files. After a bit of research and reading reviews on the internet, I discovered The Data Clinic, who put my mind at rest during the very first phone call. They collected my Mac from my home address, recovered and backed-up all of my invaluable files, emailed and telephoned to update me on progress, replaced the internal hard drive (for less than I was quoted by Apple), and delivered my computer back to me at home. I highly recommend these guys and can't thank them enough for saving what equates to over 5 years of my life in photos, music and my graphic design work that was stored on this computer. 10/10.
I was in a blind panic as my drive had significant and current personal and work files which when it failed, brought me to a standstill. They were very empathetic, extremely good as talking me through the procedures involved and giving me updates. They also were really great to talk to in terms of advice on how to avoid such problems in the future. It was by no means an easy job as my drive had a total mechanical failure. Very pleased with the way they handled it and managed my expectations so professionally. Incidentally they were recommended to me by a very large and well known drive manufacturer.
I found this company on the other side of Manchester and they were so very helpful to my partner and me. I didn't understand what was wrong with my PC but they talked me through it, and had the item collected and sorted out. It was great service from friendly and I think very professional people.
It isn't possible to put a price on the information I would have lost if I hadn't found Data Clinic. Value for money? Incalculable. Perhaps even more importantly, they listened to me as I tried to explain what had happened with my limited knowledge and my very agitated, panicky state of mind. They calmed me down, reassured me that they would do everything they could to help and now I have my data restored and my peace of mind back. I have included them in the list of essential services in my contacts list. I would strongly recommend Data Clinic as they know how to fix computers and they know how to make customers feel like valued customers.
I sent a SATA drive to DataClinic to be examined last year after it failed. After paying £120 (ish) for the initial examination I was told that there would be a good chance of recovery. My issue with them is that after many months, rather than admit they were unable to restore the drive, they went quiet and avoided any discussion about the drive, despite them telling me on my inquiries that they were still working on it. Eventually I closed the case with them after many months of poor communication. (My email was read but not responded to with even an acceptance of their failure or an apology. My issue is not with the fact they were unable to restore the drive, but their substandard customer experience. They are friendly and communicative when they want your money, but awful if they cannot deliver. I would not use this company under any circumstances.
I did my detailed research online for a number of companies that do Data recovery. There are a lot of them out there, with really fancy websites, and really awesome claims and even really awesome initial pricing. But as my data was very critical to me, I called each one and interviewed the technical people who were going to do my data recovery. A lot of them would only allow you to talk to sales individuals, who will promise the world, but when asked how or anything remotely technical, they cannot deliver. At Dataclinic, I talked to an actual technical engineer. He explained the process in as much detail as I needed. Also the real winner for me the previous independent reviews they had. The third factor was that they are connected to some really big data recovery research facilities. I sent my drives to them, and they were able to recover all my data. Very happy, and will use them again. Cheers.Moreexpand_more
Taking your disk hostage! Explained I had my HD examined locally and it needed to go into a cleanroom. Price quoted 490£UK + 85 for return media. After receipt of HD price quoted twice this amount! I cannot pay this amount but want my HD back. Promised return on many calls and e-mails but has kept it for 10 weeks now! Must be deliberate as both the Manchester tech. And the director knows and does nothing. My next step is filing a case of theft of property with the Manchester police! Never use them if you are not prepared to pay whatever they ask!Gert Nielsen; Denmark.Moreexpand_more
Our NAS drive suffered a failure and whilst attempting to repair it, the device repartitioned the main drive deleting all content. The backups were not being done! So all company data was lost and things were looking despearte! On Tuesday the device was collected by Wednesday afternoon we had a list of files that could be recovered and by Friday it was business as normal with both the old NAS drive being returned and a new drive with the recovered data on it. Informative people at there end kept me updated at every step so I could re-assure the directors what was happening. Highly recommended company to deal with a pleasure despite the severity of our problem. Thank you!
We recently used Data Clinic to recover some important data for us, from an old RAID 1 disk pair that had stopped working (both disks). They were contacted late evening, couriered our disks to their factory where their state was diagnosed through the night. We were kept informed at each step of the way. Our disks data was recovered and re imaged onto a set of disks that could just be plugged back into our server. Services were brought back online without trouble. We were dealt with swiftly, professionally and incredibly competently. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
I am a photographer and I had been very slack with my backups. I had two years worth of work and priceless images of my young sons on a single old drive that suddenly died with no warning. It was an Iomega package, 5 years old, and contained two Seagate Barracudas in a RAID array. I found DataClinic through Google. I chose them over Iomega's Data Recovery because DataClinic were clearly highly technically proficient judging from the two telephone conversations I had with them. So I sent the disk off to them. The initial diagnostics said one disk had badsectors but also other magnetic degradation so I was still concerned that some or all of the data might be unrecoverable. However, on the 7th working day a courier delivered a new drive with all my data and thereturned old drive. I can't recommend the guys at DataClinic highly enough. If you have lost data, then in my opinion you would be hard pushed to find a better data recovery service. Dr Fionnbharr Ó Súilleabháin.Moreexpand_more
I must admit this is the first time i have had to use such a service so was very anxious and un easy. However these guys are true professionals and made the whole experience painless. Never before have the words 'it was a full data recovery - we managed to recover the lot' meant so much. Would certainly recommend, these guys are great!
