Traditional acupuncture aims to identify and treat the root cause of your symptoms. Because it treats your whole system, it is effective for a wide range of conditions. Depending on your personal treatment plan, other Chinese medical techniques may be used in addition to acupuncture. These include cupping, tuina (Chinese medical massage), acupressure, guasha, ear seeds and magnets, and moxibustion. You may also be given therapeutic exercises to do at home similar to those recommended by physiotherapists, and Sarah may also discuss changes that you can make to your diet and lifestyle that will benefit your particular condition.

Sarah may refer you to a qualified local practitioner if you might benefit from complementary therapies other than acupuncture, such as chiropractic or nutrition therapy. Sarah is trained to identify the signs and symptoms of serious conditions (called 'red flags') that require conventional medical treatment. If she identifies any red flags during your treatment sessions, she will provide you with a letter to take to your GP. She will also tell you how urgently you need to see your doctor.
