Lime render completed by Avant Coatings 3 years ago with a 15 year guarantee. Render is falling off the wall and despite numerous efforts via 0800 number, company website, Mr Shaw’s mobile number and his email over many weeks, I cannot get this company to arrange to repair.

Mega team recently completed a full repointing and removal, fitment of external wall insulation and render all with the right lime materials. The team worked so hard, did really fine work and we are absolutely thrilled by the outcome of the work. Karl and team have really worked miracles on our beautiful period property. Thank you.

Conventionally I would say that my wife and I are delighted with the finished result that the workmen kept the site clean and tidy and the price paid was fair etc. And that is exactly what happened, except there is a back story that lifts this particular job and the work involved to a whole different level. The pandemic intervened. Avant found a way of continuing under very difficult circumstances 200 miles from their Leeds base, A masterclass in organisation and a can do attitude overcame supply of material difficulties, labour shortages and accommodation problems, completing the contract only a couple of weeks later than originally planned. The finished work is of the highest quality. The Avant team of Karl, Dan, Jack and Dave were a pleasure to work with and literally went the extra mile. I would highly recommend this company.

Avant Coatings… 5 stars all round! Karl and the team took on quite a challenge with our Georgian home, removing the concrete / pebble dashed render that was causing damp issues and generally ruining the appearance of the property. They were sympathetic to the originality of the brickwork, preserving as many Georgian features as possible. Karl worked closely with other contractors (builders, joiners and building surveyors) to reduce disruption where possible and deliver the "perfect finish" as quickly as possible. The team were extremely polite and I was very impressed with the way they left the area at the end of every working day. I would strongly recommend Avant Coatings for your project if you're looking for quality work where there could be unforeseen "challenges" along the way. Brilliant, thanks again Karl!

Karl, Chris, Avant and Co. Did an amazing job on our 19th century 5 bed stone farm house; lime rendered 15mm with a 5mm finish coat of Parex G00 colour through. Chris came out twice to go over the spec and give detailed advice on the correct way forward. Karl and his team came and did the job to perfection. They even changed our damaged air bricks with cast iron ones free of charge. I would recommend Karl and Avant to anyone with a big job that requires detailed historical knowledge and a pleasant workforce who clean up at the end of each day. It was all-round a pleasure to do business with them. The house looks amazing. Thank you Karl.

Total professionalism from the whole team and a pleasure to have Avant on-site to complete the work. Chris answered our initial query and arranged a survey as we wanted the York Stone cladding to the front elevation complimented with the stone quions as the existing brickwork was dis-coloured in places and not totally identical due to an extension to the original property. Chris’s recommendations were very honest and informative and really helped us to understand what we wanted and agree a specification that he quickly put to paper so there was total transparency. Chris even managed to arrange the preparatory building work that were required before Avant could come to site. Perfect as I didn’t want to trawl around builders and I wanted a company who could complete all works start to finish. Karl contacted me after the work specification had been agreed and introduced himself as the contact within Avant. A nice touch. When Karl and the lads arrived to compete the works all I can say is that it was a pleasure to have them on site. The standard of workmanship, the trust they inspired in when they said they would do something they did it, the fact that they cleaned up every night and again offered a couple of options that really set off the final finish. I cannot recommend them enough and the finish we have ended up is fantastic. It is like having a new house. Final note – do believe Karl when he says the pointing will dry to the colour that you asked for. We had the buff pointing that looks orange originally but after a number of weeks (dependent on the weather) it dried to the perfect buff pointing to accompany the sandstone.Moreexpand_more

Avant coatings did my gable end wall render in January 2017, and I have spent the last few months trying to get them to take responsibility and fix the horrible discolouration. The MD, Karl Shaw, never phones me back, makes excuses and does not do what he says he will do to fix the problem. A very expensive mistake in using this company, and all the spiel on the website is misleading - they do not look after their customers. I have given Mr Shaw every chance to remedy this problem. Currently, I am looking for another company to put it right and then I will have to charge this to Avant Coatings. Even this decision which I advised to Avant according to the Consumer Rights Act, has been ignored by Karl Shaw. After I posted this review, Mr Shaw finally contacted me and has re-painted the gable end. The finish is OK, but not perfect. The render I paid for should last 15+ years, but will the make-do paint job last as long?Moreexpand_more

Karl and the boys did a great job, the gable end pillar was extremely difficult and Karl took his time and made a fantastic job I would recommend Avant Coatings.

Excellent quality job completed on-time and they left the site very tidy. The new coating looks fantastic and dried to exactly the colour that they promised. Avant's men handled all of the unexpected problems without hesitation and made them good.

What can I say brilliant service from the first day until the job was completed. Excellent customer service, always rang me to advise when problems arose whilst carrying the work out. Would highly recommend using this company.

We had the outside of our house colour lime rendered. From the time we ask for a quote we were not put under any pressure and given time to consider. Other's who quoted wanted us to commit on the spot. Once we decided the start date was agreed and work started. The work was carried out very efficiently by a informative and friendly bunch. Many thanks Avant for carrying out the Patch repair and resurfacing in high performance coating to the exterior of my mother's house. The tradesmen are a credit to Avant. They completed the work as per specification skilfully, neatly, with pride, politeness and great humour. The result is a truly stunning house exterior, which has been endorsed by the neighbours comments.

I was extremely nervous about having the exterior wall of my town house cleaned, worried that the wrong approach could do serious damage. Talking to Karl reassured me about the process he would use because his expertise about external wall issues is very clear in conversation with him. His communication skills are excellent and he was completely reliable about all his visits and correspondence from start to finish. Very refreshing when dealing with a number of tradesmen on a house - his approach really stands out. On the day, Karl and Eddie arrived on time and took great care to protect the terraced homes of my neighbours. Unfortunately the old windows in my neighbours house are not very well fitting and power washing sets water in untypical angles, so some water got into her living room. I was outside when Eddie was dealing with her about this, and he was very polite with her, resolving the matter perfectly. Edit to post a photo because I am delighted with the job. 150 years of pollution from the nearby train station stripped away to reveal a weathered but wonderful facade. You can see what it looked like before by looking at the neighbouring house!I have no hesitation in recommending Karl.p.S. Although my location is given as Stoke on Trent the property is in Chester. The quote was in the middle but the offer of a survey which was very comprehensive made the difference. The team can on time as agreed. Their work was efficient and thorough. High quality staff who worked well. And were very good to deal with, they cleaned up every day and left the house spotless. I am very happy with the result.

Prior to using Avant Coatings, we had the exterior of our house repainted every 2-3 years and were satisfied with it albeit a quite expensive exercise. We were told by Avant Coatings that their special paint and application would seal the paintwork and not require doing again for over 10 years. Before completing the work, they said they would jet wash the rendering and make good any damage it caused before applying any paint. However, 3 years down the line we have now got cracks in the chimney rendering and chunks that have fallen out and moss and vegetation growing around the worse areas. When we complained to Avant Coatings, they ignored many of our approaches until we lost patience and threatened them with legal action. They then sent someone out (after a number of reminders) to view the problem and have now informed us that they don't insure work on chimneys and that the damage is nothing to do with them. We cannot prove it is of course, but jet washing the rendering would undoubtedly have an impact on loose bits and in our opinion they should have noticed it before painting over it. The very least they could do was put it right, but they refuse to do so. The photograph shows the damage. We also had trouble with them clearing up after themselves too and had to call them back to do so. The cost of their work is very high and you would be well advised to seek an alternative. The exterior of my semi was looking very tired and after much searching on the web I came across Avant Coatings Ltd. The quotation was within my budget and the work carried out was to a very high standard. It was completed within the time frame and it was lovely to have someone tidy up after after them. The end result has far surpassed my expectations and I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone.

Scope:(Domestic). Repairs to a 4 bedroomed house, Southport:- To prepare and treat, at height, 2 exterior walls subjected to extremes of weather and poor previous repairs. Access was difficult. Initial proposal covered main scope with other potential works addressed via provisional sums offered up front in the event of the work becoming necessary. Full discussion on site prior to start. Commencement date and duration agreed and adhered to. Quality standards and materials to be used identified using manufacturers data sheets and company's own experience. Some additional works identified but left to owner's discretion without pressure regarding inclusion. Personnel were direct company employees, skilled knowledgeable and pleasant. Summary: As a Construction Project Manager with more than 30 yrs experience this is the most professional company of its size I have encountered. I found them via their website and can confirm they do all it says they will do. Contractors working on your home can be worrying and stressful - not in this case.
