FreeIndex V7 Goes Live !!!
As you’ve probably noticed; we’ve made some considerable changes to FreeIndex.co.uk and we’re pretty excited about them!
For a start; we’ve completely redesigned the layout of the site – it has a fresh new design and the main verticals are now displayed on the left hand side rather than across the top of the site. The colours of the logo still reflect the colours we’ve designated to each industry sector, but in general FreeIndex is a little less rainbow-like. We’re hoping that the re-design makes the site easier to use, cleaner and more intuitive.
The development team has also completely restructured the search facility on the website, so it’s effective, fast, and user-friendly – compiling a list of ultra-relevant results in a map-based format. Check it out!
Here’s what Martin, our MD had to say: "We’re really excited about the new-look website and particularly with the improved search function that will ensure our registered businesses are even more accessible. Our main aim has always been to provide quality, useful information for the user, so our registered businesses will continue to get good leads through FreeIndex.co.uk”.
Jobs have now been separated from the business directory so if you want to recruit for free or search for jobs on the site they’re as easy as pie to access.
We’ve also made other significant useability changes to the login area (My FreeIndex).
We’re still featuring links to our favourite and recently updated business profiles on the homepage, as well as all your fantastic feedback – so keep your comments coming in, the more specific the better. In fact, Toni (everyone say ‘hi’) our new Marketing manager is on the look out for promising PR opportunities so if you get any particularly quirky or lucrative leads through FreeIndex do let us know – it could lead to exposure for your business in a trade magazine or on the web.
So far 2008 has been a brilliant year for FreeIndex – almost 65,000 businesses are currently registered and about 200 add their details every day. With over 1/2 million unique visitors every month, FreeIndex is fast catching up with the more well known directories. Mentioning no names!
Don’t forget to keep making the most of all the existing features for businesses, such as the PhotoBook, and the review system, which has really taken off since it was opened up to everyone. You can also add details of your memberships to trade bodies and associations in the Business Details area – adding to the range of information your potential customers can find on business pages.
Hopefully everyone who ordered a sticker pack has received one by now… make sure you stick them in prominent places so your customers know where to find you online. We will be doing another run of sticker packs in a few months for those of you who recently signed up.
