I would like to recommend an architectural technician by the name of Jack. who runs VII Architecture + Design. Jack has done a couple of jobs for me now and runs with the whole process of getting building warrants, and planning permission. His communication has been great and kept me up to date with every step of the process. He can also provide a project management service from initial contact to contract completion if required and also work closely with other consultants such as structural engineers, quantity surveyors and interior designers. I would highly recommend Jack for any architectural technical work.
I enlisted the help of Jack to navigate us through what seemed a minefield of red tape for a retrospective building warrant for an attic conversion and kitchen expansion. Jack’s advice, patience and attention to detail was second to none. Jack liaised with our local Building Standards Team, connected us to a Structural Engineer, provided the required drawings and submitted the application. The company who carried out the construction work had no qualms or queries as the plans were concise. It was a pleasure to work with Jack, a true professional and a gent! I would highly recommend the services of VII Architecture + Design.
Was a pleasure to have Jack as our Archtiect for a small project fitting patio doors and creating a small window. He is super helpful giving ideas we hadn't thought of ourselves The building warrant was approved in in a record short period of time. Jack is helpful and a really great guy to work with I would highly recommend Jack as he is professional, and very knowlegeable. And extremely good at communication I would highly recommend VII Architecture's services.
Adding a small extension to include and pretty decent siz bedroom and shower room downstairs. Jack responded very quickly to our initial enquiry, visited site and talked through the process etc as we've never done work like this before so it was important to understand the rules/regulations v's our wish-list and costs involved. Couldn't fault work/advise given and we are currently at the build stage now and excited to see the end result. Can't thank Jack enough as throughout the whole design/planning process he was always on hand to answer any further queries etc and also chased planning department on a few occasions. We would recommend Jack to any family/friend looking to this type of work knowing they would have a true professional to guide them through the process.
2nd Double Garage conversion and 2nd time coming back to use Jack Glancy's services. Jack actually had a full schedule but decided to make an exception for me and take on my project as I was a repeat customer. New project, new challenges as no 2 jobs are the same due to different house builders, wall construction, plans and layout of existing building. Through meaningful conversation and understanding, the building warrant was approved without too much fuss and the builders I employed did a great job, job done, thank you Jack.
Jack did all the appropriate plans and paperwork for us when we renovated our flat in the West End. Not only was he highly efficient and professional in his work but was a pleasure to deal with and quick! . I would have no reservations about recommending him and his company.
Quite a stressful experience working with Jack on the design of building our en-suite in the master bedroom, extending our kitchen and building a small utility space. His costs increased after initial quotation and his assurance about how straight forward the project would be, and there was a technical flaw in his design relating to the soil pipe exiting the building, which caused some issues during the build. All in all, I wish we hadn't selected Jack and Vii Architecture + Design for our project.
From start to finish, Jack was a pleasure to work with on our building warrant application. As a testament to his experience and professionalism our flat alerations were approved by Edinburgh Council within 2-3 weeks without any objections or requests for additional information! Very pleased and would highly recommend!
We used Vii Architecture and Design's services for our loft and kitchen design. Having no experience with building warrants and applications, Jack gave great advice and guidance. We were impressed with his professionalism and knowledge. Easy to talk to, Jack gave us a number of options and ideas that we had not considered. We have two successful building warrant application. Thoroughly recommend.
Being from Northern Ireland and unaware of the twists, turns and vagrancies of planning in Scotland, Jack’s counsel, support and direction for our own architect were indispensable in our quest for a Building Warrant. Jack’s communication skills were excellent and we would warmly recommend him to anyone.
Jack was recommended to me and my partner by our previous landlord who hired VII Design for a few tenement conversion jobs. We were looking to undertake structural changes in our tenement flat in Dennistoun and it was important for us to work with someone who already had a lot of experience in this area. Jack was helpful along the way and regularly kept us updated. We really appreciated Jack’s help with ad hoc queries which we had a lot of, Jack was always happy to answer our emails or take calls, even after his part of the job was finished, i. E. After the drawings were approved by the council. We would definitely recommend him for similar jobs.
We recently used Jack to plan a conversion in a tenement flat in Glasgow, taking the existing large kitchen and converting it into a bedroom, whilst converting a recess and cupboard into an internal kitchen. Throughout the full process, from initial planning to receiving the approved building warrant from the local council, Jack was extremely helpful, organised and detailed. He came out during the initial planning phases at a time that suited us (evening after work) and kept us updated throughout the full process, and was happy to call at any time if we had any queries (as it was our first time doing a project like this). Jack managed the process from initial ideas as to the conversion, to working with the council to obtain the building warrant, to recommending a local builder to perform the work - which was exactly the end to end service and management we were looking for. I would thoroughly recommend Jack and VII Architecture + Design to others for similar work, and he'll be the first one I call if I do similar in the future.
We recently used Jack to help us with a single storey garage conversion into a much needed extra bedroom. Jack suggested various design options then worked with the council for the relevant warrant to be issued. We had confidence in Jack helping us through our build and would not hesitate to recommend for similar work.
Updating and extending terraced house in Glasgow. We were looking for a back extension to a terraced house, to make a bigger kitchen and an open plan living/dining space, plus adding a downstairs loo under the stairs. Jack was very knowledgeable about building regs, giving lots of good advice about the project, and also knowing where there was scope to negotiate to make the extension lighter. He was very professional and easy to work with.
We were put in touch with Jack (VII Design) by another company as we needed some advice and guidance as to how to alter and modernise a 1970`s bungalow both internally and externally in order to bring it up to a suitable standard for the 21st century. Jack listened to our wishes and needs, before producing plans and drawings which covered our thoughts and introduced ideas from his experienced outlook. He then submitted the drawings to our local planning and building warrants. Department, where they were subsequently passed. We hope to have the alterations carried out in the very neer future.
We know Jack at VII Design and called him after we bought our old property in Bearsden to discuss adding to the layout. We needed both planning and building warrant for alterations to the rear of the house as it's in a conservation area. We wanted an en-suite and dressing area but that soon evolved into a better scheme which included raising the roof for better height in the existing stair and this tricky scheme was approved by the planners. Work starts in October! I would recommend Jack and his team at VII Design.
I contacted VII Architecture + Design after finding out that I needeed retrospective warrant permission for french doors to the rear of my flat. There was a degree of urgency as I was in the process of selling the house so was on a tight timescale. I called Jack and he was really quick to put together the necessary drawings for submission to the council for approval. It was a smooth process and Jack kept me informed throughout the process. Good job!
