Upon arrival at the cottages (Exceptionally well converted farm out buildings)we were greeted by a beaming smile and hearty welcome from Sue. Leading us into "The Byre" she gave a tour and explanation of what's available, indicated the various local area food and drink "guides" and recommendations for making our stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. Having our elderly Border Collie with us was absolutely no problem for Sue and Andy, in fact he was welcomed as much as we were. (So refreshing to feel wanted when you have a dog with you on holiday). The cottage exceeded expectations, with all we needed to set us off for our week looking around the local area. Use of the outdoor swimming pool (solar panel heated! ) was encouraged with clean surroundings to relax on a lounger. after your swim. There is an ample "Late night" doggy exercise field that Andy works hard to maintain, where your canine friend is welcome to wander to the left side through the farm gate opposite the cottages just a few yards away, just watch out for the rabbits ! LOL!Would I return?Hell Yeah. What a splendid and relaxing place run by people that really care to get it right. Thank you.Moreexpand_more
The cottage we had (Stable) was beautifully appointed, exceptionally well equipped, warm clean and comfortable. All the rooms were spacious and parking was right outside the front door. The adapted wet room/toilet had everything our disabled daughter needed. She, like us, had a most enjoyable holiday, and good weather was the icing on the cake. Our thanks to the owners for the prompt response to our initial enquiry and the warm welcome when we arrived.
Our holiday experience at the Dairy, Weston House Cottages, Somerset:- From Yvonne, Andy, Drew and Grandad 'pop'. A very warm welcome upon our arrival 6th April, 2012. The cottage was spottless, very homely and spacious, well equiped and cozy. The location was superb for days out around and about, only 1-2 hours or less to all sorts of different places to suit all taste and ages. We had a wonderful time, in beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed all the comforts of home away from home in the cottage, and made some new friends too. We all look forward to another visit in the near future, and would recommend staying there to anyone.
We have just enjoyed a very pleasant and quiet break at Weston House Holiday Cottages. The cottage itself was very well equipped and in an excellent location for exploring Somerset and Dorset. Sue had left us bread and milk for our arrival and fresh flowers too which was a very pleasant touch and we particularly enjoyed the open fire!
My family (five of us) had a marvellous time staying in the three bedroom cottage. It was so good to find Sue had provided all those little things that I had forgotten to bring. Will most definitely come again and have already recommended the Cottages to friends. The Gliddon's had even laid on perfect weather - what more could we want!
My Husband and I along with my elderly mother stayed at the stables for one week in June 2010. The cottage was simply stunning, everything was very comftable a real home from home. The kitchen is well designed with everything that you could need. Sue and Andy made us feel very welcome, . It is only short drive into the centre ot Yeovil, A stunning town from the cottage there lots of local pubs one within walking distance. we really enjoyed our stay and hope to go back soonWendy , Jeff.
We stayed in the Byre and received a warm welcome to an excellently equipped and comfortable cottage. Sue and Andy the owners are perfect hosts and are always on hand to provide helpful suggestions on places to visit and eat. Andy takes pride in keeping the swimming pool in tip top condition and it is not unusual to have it all to yourself on most days. The immediate area is ideal for a variety of walks and our dog thoroughly enjoyed herself - Her tail has never wagged so much! The best cottage accomodation we have ever rented in a lovely quiet spot within easy driving distance of the coast and other attractions.
We stayed in the Stable. Beautiful location, tucked away in a quiet corner of a small village. The cottage is very well equipped and nicely decorated. It contained lots of useful leaflets including an OS map of the area, which we used to create our own circular walk from the cottage to Ham Hill and back. Unfortunately we didn't have time to use the pool. The only criticism was that I seem to remember there not being enough hooks in the bathroom to hang towels/clothes on. Really enjoyed our stay.
We stayed in the Stable with our handicapped sister. Everything provided was of wonderful quality and absolutely suitable. Sue and Andy are friendly and generous hosts-always ready to give service but not intrusiveThe cottage was squeaky clean and well cared for and, above all, comfortable. Lovely cottage, lovely place, lovely people.
We booked all three cottages for the week because our daughter was getting married at nearby Merriot. We wanted the cottage to be 'home from home' so that the bride could feel relaxed whilst preparing for the wedding and we were not disappointed. Everything was of the highest standard and we could find no faults. Sue was very attentive to our needs and helped in many practical ways. I can thoroughly recommend the cottages.
We had a lovely week in The Stable. We were made very welcome and valued. The cottage was decorated beautifully, it was homely, comfortable and very practical. There is so much attention to detail in terms of the accomodation and a warmth in the service provided. We look forward to returning.
We have been coming to The Byre, twice a year, since March 2003 - that is a good recommendation in itself. The cottage is cosy and warm, well equipped and Sue and Andy Gliddon make the holiday very enjoyable plus, of course, all the lovely countryside and interesting places we love to visit.
We have stayed in all the cottages over the years and the high quality is consistent in each of the properties. Everything you will need is provided, from soap to dishwasher tablets, even tea bags for that welcome brew when you arrive, and a pint of milk in the fridge. Lots of good places to walk the dog (or for the dog to walk you! ) eg Ham Country Park, the grounds of Montecute House, or Yeovil Country Park. If the weather is not ideal, curl up in front of the log fire with a good book - all provided!
On arriving at Weston House cottages I was amazed at the quality of the cottage and the equipment that was available, free of charge to ourselves. Everything was laid on, the cottages was exceptionally clean and well presented. Every item of kitchen items were freely available, including a dishwasher, that made my life easier. The owners Sue and and her husband was always at hand, freely giving of their time to answer questions and even just for a chat. The location of the cottages is excellent, but within easy reach of places to visit and eat. I would highly recommend the cottages to friends and family and have already done so. Excellent time spent, to the extent I did not want to leave. I would like to thanks Sue and her family for a wonderful and friendly time.
The Stable met all our needs for a relaxing break. We live overseas and were visiting family / friends who live locally. Andy and Sue were great. Staying with a young toddler meant the house had to be child friendly, comfortable and provide all amenities. It proved to be a home from home. High-chair / cot and bedding were provided. It was very clean, warm and shortly after our arrival a big box of toys arrived (from Andy and Sue's grandchildren) for our daughter to play with. We stayed there over christmas and the place was decorated with tree and trimmings. Really was a home from home. We certainly plan on staying there again! *One small point, the stable does not have a bath, only x2 showers so need to ensure children don't mind showering which fortunately ours doesn't!Moreexpand_more
The accommodation exceeded expectations. We could not fault the house and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone staying in this area. The house was ideally suited for both our dogs. The real fire added greatly to the atmosphere and the free wi-fi was an added bonus.
