About Tugo
Tugo Tutors provides online maths tutoring for students aged 11 to 18 across the UK, from Year 7 through to GCSE and A-Level. Students join a weekly class of 6 to 8, taught by a PGCE-qualified, DBS-checked maths teacher.
Lessons follow the Tugo Method, a structure built on cognitive science research into how children learn and remember. Each lesson starts by checking that the foundations are secure, works up through harder questions, and ends with mixed questions where students choose the method themselves, as they will in the exam.
Students work on an online whiteboard, and the teacher sees every line of working as it is written. Mistakes are caught at the step where they happen and corrected during the lesson. The teacher also has live analytics, and the Tugo Teaching Assistant checks work and flags who needs help. Learning in a small group helps too. Seeing others find the same questions hard makes it easier for students to keep trying, and the class keeps them focused after a full school day.
Every Tugo tutor is a qualified maths teacher with a PGCE, the UK teacher-training qualification, and every one is DBS-checked. We don’t use students or recent graduates as tutors.
Our teachers know the mistakes students tend to make and can spot when someone is struggling, and they know how to help. We train each of them in the Tugo Method, so every class runs the same way whoever is teaching it.
Every family starts with a Free Trial Lesson and a Diagnostic Assessment that shows where their child is secure and where the gaps are. Where it finds a specific gap, we add short one-to-one catch-up sessions alongside the weekly class. Parents receive a progress report each half term.0 FreeIndex Reviews
