Hannah James owns and runs The Pet Shed, a friendly, independent pet shop in Brighton catering for the needs of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, in fact almost all pets large or small - even the more unusual variety.
With its emphasis on natural and ethical food and pet products, Hannah offers a warm welcome to animal lovers and their furry companions. Hannah’s knowledge of her stock is extensive; she’ll be able to advise you on the right choice of nutrition to keep your beloved four legged family friend as healthy as possible.

The Pet Shed is also home to a treasure trove of carefully chosen pet treats and accessories.

Modestly referring to herself as an “enthusiastic amateur”, as an animal lover with a positive menagerie of animals at home (even chickens and turkeys), this is Hannah’s dream business. Before founding The Pet Shed, Hannah’s natural talent for figures and numbers led to a long career as a cost accountant within the NHS. When the opportunity arose to buy a pet shop, she jumped at the chance – of course. Being your own boss, as she quickly found out, is hard work but much more enjoyable and satisfying, especially in a field of work that she loves.

Stepping into The Pet Shed is all about old fashioned customer service; Hannah’s warm welcome, attention to detail and her passion for animal welfare has seen her business flourish since its inception.
