I inherited an old oil painting that my parents found in the loft of an old house over 60 years ago. It was in poor condition and had a rip and had lived in several lofts after that. I decided to get it restored and framed and took it to Alan. I did research and found very favourable reviews for his work. Alan is very busy and I had to wait a while but it was well worth it! It looks stunning. Unfortunately he never found a signature so I won’t be on Fake or Fortune! Would definitely recommend.

Bad crack across panel well filled and touched in, as were scuffs in sky. Revarnishing and a new frame appropriate to the picture completed the restoration of a complicated oil painting - on time, on price and with Alan Brown's relaxed charm.

You were able to completely transform the picture by professionally cleaning it to remove the dirt gathered over forty years revealing the picture in all its former glory. My mother in law wanted a piece of cross stitching framed that she had designed and produced. As it was for a very close friend’s 65th birthday party she’d spent a huge amount of time on this piece and we wanted a frame to compliment the work. We also needed the fabric stretched and mounted on a backing and the work protected by glass. We have in the past used other framing services but have had problems with sawdust being trapped behind the glass and finger marks one the inside of the glass. Also they have never been very helpful the work has never been ready when they said it would be. It’s always been a very poor experience. We decided to try The Original Artwork Store as we hadn’t been there before. I have to say it was an astonishing experience. The owner, Alan was so enthusiastic about the work my mother in law had produced it made us both feel fantastic. We spoke for ages about the story of the design she had produced. When we finally got around to choosing a frame it was simple and straight forward. He gave us a price for the work which we were both pleased with and gave us a date and time when it would be ready. What we really enjoyed was Alan showing us some of the restoration work he was undertaking on a number of oil paintings, it was amazing what he’s able to do. I don’t think he understands how exiting it is to see a real artist at work. The time we spent with Alan was a brilliant experience and we learnt so much.The best result was when my mother in law gave the gift at the party. It was such a beautiful gift, with so much love and attention involved in it, the person it was given to was so moved they cried. We would like to thank Alan so much for all the help.Moreexpand_more
