Welcome to Higher Grades In Physics. I am a full time professional online physics, chemistry and maths tutor and an excellent science communicator. I have the ability, understanding and resources to get the best out of students for their GCSEs, A levels and undergraduate degrees. I am a fully qualified, DBS checked, teacher with over ten years teaching and tuition experience across all ages and abilities. Working as an examiner for the major exam boards in the UK has given me a detailed understanding of examination requirements, I extend this insight to my students, giving them not only the required knowledge for their exams but also the very best exam technique. I have just been awarded a Ph. D. In chemical physics, this involved producing cutting edge research for future solar technology, this work helps me to inspire my students. My approach to tutoring:
I will work with the student to quickly find the problems they are having, then rebuild their knowledge or correct their misconceptions, making the relevant science or maths clear and easy to understand. Challenging questions and assignments will be set to drive, encourage and push a student outside of tutorials. This also helps to carefully assess knowledge and give them a much clearer understanding. Working through problem solving, examination techniques and confidence building exercises, I can improve a students’ performance in any exam. Ultimately driving students towards their best while making the learning process fun, enjoyable and inspirational.

How online tutorials work:

Tutorials online are conducted over Skype or FaceTime using Scribbler. This means students can see me and talk to me via a video call. Scribbler is an interactive white board used by both myself and my student, it is web based so only a flash enabled web browser is required (it doesn’t work on an iPad). This allows students to work with me on problems, and keep their tutorial notes in one place for revision. I also used a wide range a range of animations and online resources, which are carefully selected to improve understanding.
