What is cork fabric?

Every 9 years, the bark of the cork oak tree is harvested by carefully and by hand. It is then left to dry for 30 days, boiled and compressed. Very thin slices and then cut and glued onto a cotton backing. The result is a smooth fabric with unique patterns which is naturally waterproof, lightweight, anti-bacterial and stain-resistant. It is as durable as leather but totally vegan and sustainable. The bark grows back and while doing so, it absorbs even more carbon dioxide from our atmosphere.
