If you need the services of a vet you could not do better than choose Jo. She is very kind, gentle and compassionate towards the animals and their owners as well as being very professional. We were very fortunate to be recommended to Jo by Moor Cottage Veterinary Hospital when our darling cat Fudge became ill and needed to be examined. Fudge being a very nervous cat and not usually friendly towards strangers meant we were dreading this experience. However, much to our surprise, Jo carried out the procedure with hardly any problem. Unfortunately, it turned out that Fudge had a severe and aggressive form of cancer and had to be put to sleep, which Jo did for Fudge in the most calm and loving way. Doreen and Amanda from Winkfield.
First things first I owe Jo a massive apology for being two months late putting my review up online. Sorry Jo! Jo helped me a great deal when she came over to see Jess she was so thoughtful and thorough just what I needed. I am paraplegic and so sometimes I struggle getting out so having Jo come to us was priceless. Jess is looking so well and considering she is 17 years old (85 in cat years) I just don't think there is a better bet in this area well done Jo.
Our cat is a very timid girl and is frightened of strangers and unfamiliar situations. I found Jo via Google and I am so pleased to have done so. Our cat needed several tooth extractions due to having an infection in her mouth. Jo was very gentle and kind with her, she explained the procedure and possible complications very clearly, her advice on aftercare has been very useful and follow-ups much appreciated. Jo's services made a daunting operation so much easier not only for our cat but also on my partner and I (as nervous and doting pet owners) and we are very thankful. Highly recommended!
The treatment that my cut needed was tricky as it involved her being kept still for quite a while as it was important for the procedure to be a success. Throughout, the vet was calm and professional and although my cat was not 100 per cent happy with what was going on, she responded well and was quick to recover…so much better in her home with familiar surroundings and no stressful journeys and waiting to be seen…I was really happy with the service provided.
Jo was recommended to me by a friend as I have recently moved into the area. Our 1st contact was due to my Ragdoll having a very upset tummy and my concerns re: any underlying cause. Jo called and although fully booked that day she spent around 20mins on the phone talking through Archie's symptoms and possible causes/resolution. I felt immensely reassured. I was surprised (happily) when Jo contacted me later to advise she had space and could visit to check on my boy. The visit was fantastic and Archie made friends quickly so Jo even managed to get a full check up including his temperature although he was sore and grumpy - without stress or pain. My other cat who is a rescue also bonded and tried to sit in Jo's Goody bag to steal the treats! I can't recommend this professional highly enough - she is an absolute star and goes above and beyond with both animal and owner. Thank you.
Our beautiful cat, McCartney began experiencing seizures approximately six months ago. She is a bit of a Prima Dona and we tried to have her seen by our local vets on several occasions, all of which resulted in badly scratched arms and a very unhappy cat. My daughter found Jo`s details on the internet and after an initial email, Jo visited us the following day and spent more than 2 hours. Kneeling on the floor, sedating (a job in itself)and offering treatment to our very high maintenance cat. She called in the following day, with initial medication and our little girl approached her with no fear. That same evening. Jo emailed us with the full blood test results. We have agreed a treatment plan with Jo and have now registered our 2 other cats with her. We had never heard of a home-visiting vet before and can only express the comfort and reassurance that Jo has given us at an extremely difficult time. I would also like to stress that Jo, herself, is an extremely pleasant and down to earth young person, and seems almost to belong to a bygone era where service and customer satisfaction were paramount.Moreexpand_more
After discovering my rather old cat in distress one morning, I chanced upon The Cat Vet after searching online for a local vet. How brilliant, I thought, a vet who not only specialises in cats, but also comes to your own house! And Jo was on my doorstep within an hour, donned in pink crocs and cottons, a large bag of veterinary goods in hand. She spent nearly two hours with us and proved her weight in gold on her mission to work out what might be wrong with him. She is a font of knowledge, my cat instantly formed a rapport with her, and we managed to get urine and blood samples without incurring further stress to him. The results were turned around in less than 24 hours, and Jo called to discuss them immediately, then arranged to visit again to check his blood pressure and teeth. My cat has stage 2 renal failure, and she has left us with lots of information (her info sheets are so helpful and informative) proper food samples, medication and promises to drop around more over the next few days. She really goes beyond the call of duty and genuinely cares for your cat, making her far more valuable in my opinion than a quick visit to a surgery where time is sparse and atmosphere is tense, as well as little rapport development - this is a big factor in an old cat who is both ill and set in his ways! That call-out fee is well worth paying in my opinion. Jo is not only a remarkable vet, impressively knowledgeable, she is also very warm, friendly and instantly likeable. I can't recommend her more highly.Moreexpand_more
Thank you Jo for persevering with Symba's angry reaction to being treated by a vet and ensuring that she is now fully protected with the necessary vaccinations. Your patience and care with her has been so reassuring for us as we don't really know how much trauma she had suffered before becoming a part of our family.
I'm so glad I found 'The Cat Vet' and more to the point Jo! Our cat was a stray and we were by no means cat experts in any form, just trying our best to make the little man's life more enjoyable. When he came back one morning with a swollen eye and scratches I needed help. An a professional who could come to my home. Jo was so helpful, gave advice over the phone, came the next morning and was wonderful all round! She provided me with all the information I needed going forward and introduced me to the wonderful world of veterinary care. Just brilliant, I couldn't recommend Jo more highly. It's how i'd want to be treated if I was a little cat for sure!
We are so glad that we not only found a travelling vet but also that it was Jo Lewis. With a cat traumatised earlier in life as a stray we could no longer take Fozzy to the vet after a few awful experiences trying. After a long talk with Jo we immediately knew she was right for us and confident she could take care of Fozzy. Her first visit was relaxed and Foz(and us)were put at ease. Time was spent to carefully introduce the whole ‘I’m a vet and I’m in your house’ concept to Fozzy. After a bit of time sniffing and checking Jo out she acted no different than normal. Jo was calm as she slowly examined Fozzy and then talked everything through with us. She took time to explain treatment options and letting us ask questions. Fozzy quite happily lied down for a snooze next to us while we finished off the prescriptions and paperwork. Jo recommended some products to help us to relax Fozzy and our multi cat household and I am pleased to say they worked a treat – almost instantaneously. We have much confidence to use Jo again for general boosters but also for any other illness Foz potentially has. We thoroughly recommend Jo and hope more cat lovers find her services! It’s a great concept from a great Vet called Jo!Moreexpand_more
My Cat is terrified of travelling as she was very abused as a kitten and is so nervous even though she is now 13. Trips to the vet were very stressful for everyone involved including Boots we had to find an alterantive and other vets charge an extortionate amount for call outs! My husband found Jo online and we have never looked back. Jo is amazing with Boots, she is calming, caring and so professional, she knows so much information about cats and is always happy to take my calls if I need advice. The added bonus too is that I couldnt believe her prices she is so reasonable. She is an absolute star and nothing is too much trouble, we would be lost without her and so would Boots! Please give her a go, you wont regret it.
Jo The Cat Vet was looking for a good home for a rescue cat, and I saw Kia's photo and instantly wanted to rescue him! He arrived very matted and neglected and within a day Jo was round to check him over. Kia could never have travelled to the vet so it was wonderful to have Jo come to our home. She reassured us that with much TLC, neutering and shaving off the matted hair, Kia would recover well. A week later Jo came and fetched Kia for his neutering and grooming, and delivered him safely home after his operation. Follow up calls were made and he recovered so well with Jo's care. I cannot recommend The Cat Vet more highly!
Our cat Romeo is a bit accident prone so has seen quite a lot of Jo since we registered with The Cat Vet. Having a consultation with Jo is as relaxing as having a good friend round for tea. In fact Romeo would say Jo is one of his best friends. He's always happy to see her, no matter how bad he's feeling. Our other cat is very nervous and Jo easily won her over - she takes her time to understand each cat and their individual needs. We couldn't be more pleased to have stumbled across The Cat Vet.
