Welcome to Swing Patrol - a big crazy group of people devoted to having fun, making new friends and sharing their love of Swing Dancing.

What is Swing Dancing?
Swing dancing was created by African Americans in the early 20th century. Swing dancing is often referred to as an ‘umbrella’ term and it encompasses a varied range of styles danced to Swing music and they’re often mixed on the dance floor. Swing music had its heyday from 1935 to 1946 when Big Band swing music was at its peak in the United States but has been around since the late 1920s.

Swing dancing is generally a partnered (though not always), social dance which means we learn and dance with lots of different people. It’s a great way to make new friends while learning a new skill and getting fit!

The Creation of Swing Patrol.
This whole thing just started with a genuine and breath-taking passion and love for the dance. Scott and Claudia started in 1998 and head up wonderful communities who swing dance in London, Brighton, Melbourne and Sydney.

Scott and Claudia just wanted other people to dance with and they NEVER dreamed Swing Patrol would become known as the largest swing school in the world. Many times they stand back and just marvel at what has happened. Welcome to the SP family of swing dancing lovers.

After ten years, Swing Patrol has one of the most experienced teaching teams in the world with first class troupe dancers who share the dance every weekend across London, Melbourne, Sydney, Geelong and Tasmania. The next chapter involved the launching of Swing Patrol London in 2009. Our teaching team at Swing Patrol hope to bring the joyful style of swing dance classes to new people thus enhancing the wider London swing scene.

Swing Patrol offers classes in the following Swing dances - Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz and Charleston, Balboa and Blues.

The Big Band era is back with a vengeance and swing dancing is a special dance with a great crowd coming along.
