About Spitfire Clay Pigeon Club
Clay Pigeon Enthusiast? Looking for somewhere to shoot? Come along to the Spitfire Clay Pigeon Club. Beginners are very welcome and will be taught how to shoot safely. Experienced shooters may well find some of the targets quite challenging. The club shoots every Sunday morning from 9. 30 am. The normal shoot is a 50 bird sporting over 7 stands; Skeet and Down the Line on the last Sunday of each month. Established in 1982, the club is located between Hawkinge and Elham.
Anyone who has always wanted to try clay pigeon shooting but does not know where to start should come along to the Spitfire Clay Pigeon Club. Beginners will be taught everything about safe gun handling and the basic theories of Clay Pigeon Shooting. All the members were once novices and they will help newcomers enjoy themselves. Ownership of a shotgun is not necessary, one of the members will always be willing to lend one.
Experienced shooters are most welcome; they may find some of the stands quite challenging. Please note that only fibre wad cartridges are allowed, 12 gauge cartridges are available for purchase at the club.
The ground is near Rakeshole Farm. Turn down Reece Lane off the A260 Hawkinge-Denton Road. Go past Rakeshole Farm (on the right) and turn right at the minor crossroads. From Elham take the road north of the village that passes Parsonage Farm and turn left at the minor crossroads. Drive down for about 400 yards, where the road turns left 90 degrees there are two fields next to each other on the right hand side. Go through the gate on the right hand field (there will be a warning shooting sign on the gate). The club is at the bottom of the field.
