I Took my car to Mark with a transmission malfunction fault on an automatic gearbox …. Mark did not seam sure what the problem was so began looking at the internet to see if he could get information on how to solve my issue. Mark said he would change the gearbox oil and that SHOULD fix the problem…HMMM I was a little sceptical of the word Should to say the least, I picked my car up after Mark had changed the gearbox oil to the cost of £245. 00 and as I drove my car 100 yards out of the garage the same fault code and light appeared on the message system, I then phoned Mark immediately and he told me I needed to let the oil get round the gearbox. I had my car like this for 3 days Mark then told me to bring it back into his workshop and will put the diagnostics machine on whilst I was there, the code came up to say it was a problem with the Transmission switch and Mark assured me it did not have that code when I previously took my car to him which I found odd as it was the same message. Mark was unsure so was looking on u tube to see how to fix the problem and said he would be able to get the part from ebay as it would be cheaper for me. Alarm bells started ringing so I decided to take my car to another garage and they fixed my car straight away at half the cost of the gearbox oil, I was also charged for another 2 litres of oil as Mark had not actually filled it up to the correct level although my gearbox oil didn't need changing in the first place. I mentioned this to mark that I had to purchase more oil and he did not actually fix the problem and his reply was read the bottom of the invoice , it states they illuminate problems first to find the actual problem. I would not recommend Southampton Street Garage and I just wanted to make people aware that he is a cowboy mechanic.Moreexpand_more
I took my vehicle to Mark at Southampton street, as a woman this is normally a daunting process, however mark explained very nicely the issues to my vehicle and explaining different options and cost available. Thanks Mark :).
