Sitting Ducks Pet Care

We used Jan’s daycare and holidays services. Jan is an excellent carer. Our dog was always happy and excited to go to Jan. When our dog had a health problem, Jan acted promptly in Marley’s best interests. Thank you very much for all.

We were recommended to Jan by our dog groomer and right from the start we were very confident in leaving Freddie with her. We were shown the facilities and were delighted when we saw the garden area that was for her use. Freddie was always happy to go to Sitting ducks and was always welcomed in a very positive way. We often contacted Jan asking for her to have Freddie and even at short notice she always obliged. Sadly Freddie is no longer with us but should our circumstances change we would not hesitate in using this service again and would highly recommend it, Thank you Jan for your kindness and care.

After an initial visit to meet Jan, we left our little dog Tilly with her for a day trial as our previous dog boarder, due to health reasons was no longer able to provide support. We were very impressed on how welcoming knowledgeable and professional Jan was when we met her. She was thorough and caring in her approach and came highly recommended. Jan made sure we had a proper tour of where Tilly would be accommodated and we were impressed with how warm and cosy the area felt and that there was a good safe outdoor space where she could exercise. Jan ensured she had a copy of all of Tilly’s vaccines and insurance documents prior to her stay which we found very reassuring and similarly Jan had copies of documents available for us to see and answered any questions we had. We felt very happy to leave Tilly for her day trial with Jan although we’re apprehensive that Tilly may not settle as she is a very nervous little dog who doesn’t cope well with seoeration and/or change. Despite Jans best efforts sadly it wasn’t for Tilly and Jan agreed with us that Tilly is likely to need more one to one support ideally in her home environment. What came across was how Jans first priority was what was right for Tilly and we really appreciated that. .

Although our dog didn’t eventually stay here, Jan was very accommodating to our last minute request and understanding when we cancelled at a short notice. Our dog stayed with friends but Sitting Ducks still offered their support in case was needed while we were away. Communication was excellent.

We were recommended Jan at Sitting Ducks Pet Care by the host of our accommodation as we needed to board our dog Mabel for a couple of days while we did some activities in and around the New Forest that didn't allow dogs. When I booked with Jan I was very reassured by the fact that she requested copies of Mabel's vaccination record, medical insurance and microchip details. When I dropped Mabel off it was easy to find and Jan met us at her opening time as we needed to get away on time for a booking. Mabel can be a little bit nervy as she is a rescue dog, however as soon as she arrived it was clear she was very happy at Sitting Ducks as she loves the company of other dogs. She also had plenty of space to stretch her legs and get fresh air, Jan also checked her dietary requirements with me and how often and what amounts of food Mabel eats. We collected Mabel after a short two day and overnight stay, although she was pleased to see us she was clearly very happy and not in any way eager to leave - so I can only assume she had an enjoyable stay at Sitting Ducks and would happily recommend to anyone in the area looking for dog boarding.

We were so lucky to have met Jan just when we were having to find doggie care for our lovely Dee who had lived in a rescue centre for a number of years prior to us adopting her so it was important to us that she go to a home rather than kennels. Jan provides a secure, clean, fun environment where there is plenty of room to play outdoors with separate areas to cater for dogs like Dee who can tend to be a bit reactive to other dogs at times. We can now relax knowing the Dee is safe and well cared for whilst we are away. Thank you Jan and Lydia.

I left my girl in Jan’s care for two weeks whilst on holiday abroad. I can honestly say that from start to finish, I was met with professionalism, kindness and reassurance. Millie was looked after very well and I was pleased with her behaviour on her return. Thank you Jan!

Many years ago when we lived locally we regularly left our labrador Toby with Jan. Having moved to Mersea island we have never found such a good pet carer and recently we brought our new 3 year old labrador Amber to stay for a few days. We were pleased to find Jan was still running her operation in just the same way as we remembered and look forward to coming back with Amber again soon. Thanks Jan.

Jan is absolutely fantastic. From her knowledge, to her clean, spacious, calm home, she is welcoming and caring. We have left our 10m old Reggie with her 4 times now and he LOVES IT! When he returns, he is happy and relaxed. Have taken him to a dog day care previously but Reggie comes back exhausted and extremely thirsty. It's like he hasn't been able to relax. When he comes back from Jans, he's a lovely calm happy do. Jan has excellent knowledge of dogs and has shared some really useful tips with me. Fair to say Reggie has a friend for life with Jan. Jan's service is professional and friendly. Sitting Ducks have taken excellent care of our boy since he was 3 months old. He really enjoy's getting dropped off and comes home wagging his tail.

Jan and Lydia are professional, knowledgeable and caring. Their care of our dog since he started with them at 15 weeks old has been exemplary. Ralph adores going and playing with his ‘mates’ and always trots in very happily. As first time dog owners they have given me so much advice and support when I’ve had doggy questions over the past 18 months. I am also very reassured by the amount they have invested in security at their premises. Would highly recommend.

Wow! What a find. Sitting Ducks is an exceptional place - secure, professional and most importantly so much FUN for our dog Ruby. She absolutely loves it and always comes back exhausted with a big smile on her face from all the playing and exploring. She loves Jan, who is clearly very experienced, knowledgeable and has a real way with her. Could not recommend it more.

Our puppy Rolo has been going to Jan for just over a year now, from the first phonecall with Jan, and her coming to meet our puppy, I knew straight away she was who I wanted to care for Rolo. Jan looked after him like he was her own, from down to taking Rolo to vet appointments, to sending me text message reminders to worm and flea Rolo, Jan always went above and beyond, and Rolo absolutely loved being with her. I couldn't recommend Siiting Ducks enough, absolutely outstanding service and the kindest lady you will ever meet.

Have used Jan since Oscar was a puppy he’s now nine. I’ve always found her reliable, and helpful. Would always recommend her for day care.

Sittings Ducks was recommended to me a few years ago and I haven’t looked back! My dogs love going there whether it’s for a holiday or doggy day care. Jan has been so accommodating over the years and I value her advice when it comes to caring for my dogs. The best.

My Doberman spent a week with Jan for the first time recently and was happy and well cared for when I collected him. Very pleased to have found someone I can trust to look after my dog and I have already booked three more stays.

Quite simply put I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my fur babies. We have used sitting ducks for several years now usually twice a year and Jan is a superstar cannot fault the service in anyway.

We have even using Jan since we had our puppy nearly 4 years ago - she is reliable and very professional - no complaints! Our dog absolutely loves going to Jans.

We have been using Jan to look after our Labrador, Denver for 2 years now. She was recommended by a friend and that recommendation has been completely justified! Jan is brilliant, she has everything in place to look after the dogs to a superb level of care. Denver loves his stays with her and always comes back exhausted from playing with the other dogs.
