I’ve used this company for a long time. Some of the Saints in the early days were great. In recent times, customer service has been very rude leaving nasty messages on my answer machine, arguing and blaming me when I asked for needed clarity. Some of the Saints have moaned repeatedly on the job. They use - Automated systems like robots to reply for things that need a phone call. This was sent very early in the morning and was invasive and impersonal. Customer service was Ignorant of what was going on but didn’t acknowledge. No apology or professionalism. Avoid this company.
Terrible do not touch these people / complete scammers. They will lie about the hours taken to complete your job and take extra funds from you. They left me with a damaged door and an incomplete task AND overcharged me. The manager Stuart Barry is rude, with clearly no management skills or clue about customer services whatsoever. Especially if you are a woman on your own, they will try to extort as much money as possible from you!
Got a shock when the bill came and I found I'd been charged at a rate 2x what I had expected. I now realise the rates page of their website is ambiguous - I would have considered taking radiators off the wall and putting them back on in exactly the same spot to be a handyman job, not an engineer job. But it should have been made clear to me when I booked - it should never have come as a surprise. At that rate they should also have been more efficient, without so much chatter and with the right (obvious) materials when they turned up it would have been done in under 2 hours instead of 3.
Had a handyman come to fit my electric shower, filled in the details on the system that it was a replace. The handyman came took of the shower realised it needed an extra bit to be able to fit the new one so couldn't fit it. Replaced my old one and charged £100 basically to give me a quote. If you have a simple job maybe these people are ok but it's better to get someone else out to give you a quote…it's 100% cheaper than using these guys.
Andy the handyman was brilliant. Not cheap but really good. The office misspelt my name and when I pointed that out they ignored it and addressed another matter in a glib and off hand manner. They followed that up with an antagonistically provocative email. Really disappointed.
Very expensive with hidden costs for what they offer. Although they do an all right job, stay away and shop around as the cost gets really high with their ridiculous fixed prices, time spent while carrying their tools from their bike (4 times on 1 job), shopping for the parts needed to the furthest shop when there is a local shop, and they always come empty handed. They will also charge more than 10£ for 6 screws.
I had a really lovely soft spoken guy called Jasper who came to rat proof my house (eek! ) He was on time (always a good sign), took apart the several appliances of a fitted kitchen, moved the fridge and literally blocked up every hole that was in the room as far as I could tell with a combination of steel wool and expanding foam. He seemed to be genuinely conscientious about the task at hand and it was all pretty impressive to watch him at work. I would highly recommend him. As for the admin side of things, it seemed to be very efficient and professional as far as my limited dealings with them went. From what I understand, the company subcontracts all their staff so unless you specifically request someone you know to be good, its totally potluck who you're eventually going to get. Yes, the website does have handy profiles of their 'saints' with lots of wonderful customer feedback attached to boot but given that (unlike here) all reviews are posted by the company not by the customers, its still very easy to see how that might go awfully wrong. Lucky for me, I got one of the good ones! All in all, a great experience because there is no longer a rat in my kitchen! :).Moreexpand_more
I used them to replace a door and fix my underfloor heating, they claim to have sent an underfloor specialist. They quoted to do the whole job for around £900 (you pay £45 for a quote btw and it took 2 weeks to get the quote after the survey). I booked the job with them only because they claimed they could fix everything. Their handyman came to do the job and could not fix the underfloor heating as he got the problem wrong in the survey I paid for. He did fix the door and did a OK job, he left the old door their when you would expect them to take it away if they were professional. The cost of using this company for the door was £796 when other companies quoted £450 and would have taken the old door away…they gave me a £120 discount because of this which still makes them 50% higher then other companies!
I called Silver Saints to have them reseal my shower as its got a bit raggedy. They say they have a fixed price. The guy they booked couldn't come so another guy showed up an hour and half late without the sealant they had said. But what was really odd and unpleasant was clearly didn't feel like doing the job from the minute he walked through the door and was extremely rude. He said he had no idea how long it would take (I had booked the job 5 hours before I needed to leave and assumed that was enough). He said he had no idea if he could clean the black material under the current sealant - which is obviously the point of getting a new sealing. He said he would change it to an hourly charge as my tiles were too small. I was really shocked at the style of his interaction. When I said yes I would need some maximum time estimate, he put on his coat and said he was leaving. Absolutely the worst experience I've had with a handyman.Moreexpand_more
The work entailed removal and reconstruction of downstairs cupboard made of plasterboard and refitting door frames and doors. They only completed the work to a reasonable level after many complaints on my part and numerous re visits on their part. They left holes in the corners of the plasterboard, the skimming was shoddy and the decoration was far from acceptable. To add to this their customer service was absolutely appalling and non existent. I was made to feel that I had no right to complain and that I should be happy they are doing the work to start with. Moreover I pad top dollar for this in anticipation of professionalism all the way. Be ware that they advertise 10% discount on the first job but in fact it means first visit.
