Best in class Bed and Breakfast. Shire Lodge is a very swiftly gtowing hotel business, they provide a very calm and peaceful environment with bed and breakfast, prices are very low and services are out standing, will definately use them on next visit.
I spent two nights with Shona and Bob in what I can only describe as a real home from home. Even though I was quite late turning up on the Friday night Bob was ready to help me in with my stuff and provide me with a welcoming cup of coffee. The room was lovely and the bed very comfy, breakfast was excellent and plenty of it. I would definitely recommend this lovely B&B. Denyse Porter Liskeard Cornwall.
My wife and I stayed with Shona and Bob for four nights. This really is five star accomodation with very hospitable and friendly owners. The breakfast is the best I have ever had in many years staying at Hotels. Enerything from The Bar, Rooms and Buster the Dog were first class.
We have just spent a lovely weekend at this very friendly run lodge. Offered a welcoming cup of tea on arrival and 2 big freshly cooked breakfasts during our stay. Room was clean and tidy and we would like to pass on our thanks to Shona and Bob. Lyndon and Gill Williams.
We stayed at The Shire Lodge for an all too brief one night and were very impressed by the warm welcome and excellent service provided by Shona, Bob and Buster. Highly recommended. Barbara and Geoff Furnival. Oxford.
Stayed two nights at Shire Lodge and was very impressed by its facilities and hosts. Our room was spacious and comfortable and each morning we were spoilt with an amazing breakfast. Shona and Bob have a great B&B and we'd definately recommend them to anyone coming to the area.
Have just spent the weekend at the Shire lodge we were made very welcome by Shona and Bob straight away, the room was very comfy, the breakfast was excellent ,spotlessly clean, would love to stay again what a lovely couple . Sandra and Lewis Edmondson Oldham.
Had a very enjoyable stay at Shire lodge this weekend. From the moment we arrived, we were made very welcome by Shona , Bob and Buster. Rooms very comfortable, fantastic hosts and superb breakfast. If we are in the area again we would certainly stay again. Thanks again for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Stayed at Shire Lodge last night whilst on a photographic course in the area. I was made to feel really welcome by both Shona and Bob. The room was spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean, I couldn't have asked for more. Breakfast was HUGE and the whole atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. A FIRST RATE B&B.
Dennis Burrows, Paul Willard and Gary FrewMyself and two friends stayed for one night at short notice. We were really impressed with the accommodation and the exceptional cleanliness. We were welcomed with a hot drink and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Bob and Shona. We needed an early breakfast and and Shona just took it in her stride and what a breakfast it was. I would have no reservations about recommending it to anyone.
Mine was just a fleeting visit (one night) and these are the following things I liked:1) The B&B was well signposted from the road - just as well as I was new to the area and it was very dark, rainy and foggy. 2) The hosts were friendly on arrival and I too was offered a cup of tea. 3) The hosts helped with directions for my following day's course and also advised on local eateries. 4) The room was clean, comfortable and had all the facilities you would expect in good working order. Interestingly I too had a slight aroma of smoke in my room (very slight, despite the notice quite clearly stating no smoking). 5) Breakfast was great and although I did not have the full works (it was freely available). The dining room was clean spacious and served it's purpose well. 6)The lounge had a snooker table and their was a hot tub available too. All in all good value, friendly establishment and would recommend.Moreexpand_more
We stayed for one night at Shire Lodge and were made to feel very welcome by Shona and Bob. The offer of a cup or tea on arrival is a lovely touch, and, as others have commented, Buster the dog is quite a hit with the little ones! The breakfast is very generous, and the communal lounge area very comfortable. The B&B does smell of cigarette smoke, however, so do bear this in mind if you think this would bother you. All in all, we were very happy with our night's stay at Shire Lodge - it's definitely great value for money.
Stayed at Shire Lodge last week whilst on business in the area. I was made to feel really welcome both by Shona and Bob and not forgetting the star of the show Buster! The room was spacious and well equipped, I couldn't have asked for more. Breakfast is HUGE and the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. A First rate B&B.
