Shiatsu (Shi- atsu) literally translated from Japanese means, finger pressure. Gentle pressure is applied with the thumbs, palms, elbows and feet. Gentle stretches and rotations are also included. Shiatsu is based on the same pathways and acupressure points as Acupuncture and encourages the free flow of energy to release tension which often may then result in aches, pains or stresses in the body.
A Shiatsu session lasts for an hour and is done fully clothed on a futon mattress on the floor. Although the first session will take 90 mins to go through the medical history and symptoms. Each session is catered to what the individual needs and wants and so are tailor made. The receiver often leaves feeling totally relaxed, rejuvenated and more in touch with themselves again.
