Umair visited to do an emergency repair and charged £690 for 75 minutes work. On the Monday, the boiler wouldn’t switch off so I called our regular engineer to come and check. When he saw the bill, he looked shocked and said one of the parts that was meant to be changed looked like it was the original part and even if it had been changed, the total job shouldn’t have cost more than £200. When I called Umair to comment, in his own words:“I know I’m more expensive than most, what do you expect for an emergency call out”. “I know you can get parts cheaper than that, but I carry them so you have to pay a premium for that”. He then went on to say that he could refund some money if I didn’t leave a bad review. I refused and said I would take the hit to avoid other people having the experience of paying more than 3x what a job should cost. I’ll leave you with the words of my trusted engineer…”I really don’t like to criticise fellow professionals, but you really have been ripped off”. I contacted Secure gas 247 on Sunday 7th Nov to see to my boiler. Via text they had me agree to pay £95 for the call. This charge include a second visit if the job requires parts which are unavailable at the time of the call out visit( the first visit). When the engineer arrived he insisted on payment in advance, so I made the payment. After having a look at the boiler it became clear to him that the boiler needed parts which were not available to us at that time, so he texted me the parts list, and he left it to me to contact him again when I secure this list in order for the repairs to be completed on a second visit. When I acquired the parts I contacted him on 19th Nov to make another appointment for him to finish the repairs that I paid for in advance, and an appointment was set for Sat 20th Nov. After failing to attend the appointment I tried in vain to contact him by phone, voice messaged and text messages, he just wouldn’t reply to any, I even went to his website and used the quotation app to send him yet another message, but to no avail. I am not happy with the way I have been treated by this individual and surely he casts a poor shadow on the reputation of this trade, I have been without heating or hot water for couple of weeks now and it is getting very difficult for me. I can not rate him because he did not do the repairs, What he did was nothing short of a con, he took my money and ran, it is very low what he did. Untrustworthy.Moreexpand_more
