About Sable Studio Gallery
With over 20 years experience in the arts and crafts industry, Sable Studio Gallery offers painting commissions, mosaics, drawing and painting classes, silver jewellery including keepsake fingerprints, murals for children's bedrooms and local nursery's, craft workshops for adults and children, children's arty parties in painting, drawing, glass painting, resin, mosaics, fimo clay modelling and jewellery making. Set-up in 2002, the business is based in Moira, Derbyshire within the beautiful grounds of Moira Furnace Museum overlooking the canal. Your professional artist is Jo Allsopp who has recently appeared on the new art show on BBC 1 called Home is Where the Art is which is presented by Nick Knowles, she has had her work featured in art magazines, illustrated the book 'My Nana is an Alien' as well as many more commissions. Jo is now a regular contributor to the SAA where you can view her tutorial videos on demand and she has featured in Paint Magazine offering her expertise and step by step painting. Sable Studio Gallery has completed many contracts for local companies including murals for Surestart centres sponsored by the Lottery Funded breathings spaces, Swingboat Nurseries, Jungle Madness and Barney's and a series of mosaic artworks for Leicestershire County Council where they can be viewed in the Library Reading Gardens in Markfield and Newbold Verdon and North West Leicestershire District Council.
The establishment aims to supply the general public with a range of arts and crafts related activities, workshops and courses and has a fully functional workshop/classroom area. The fully qualified staff ensure clients learn a range of new skills and techniques in a relaxed and friendly environment. Regular painting classes are held for Adults on Weds, Thurs and Fri mornings where these are run on a flexible basis allowing students the freedom to attend when able.
The business also produces bespoke jewellery including keepsake fingerprints and original art that make perfect gifts. Most items in the gallery are hand-made here on the premises or by other local talented artists, the product range includes solid silver jewellery pieces by SSG Jewellery, hand painted personalized furniture, original paintings, glassware, textiles, slate signs and cards. Other services on offer are murals, classes and painting days as well as the very popular 'arty parties' for children. Children choose a craft, invite their friends to the gallery and then make wonderful arty gifts to take away. Party bags and invitations are included in the price (which vary from craft to craft) and there is no mess for adults to clean up afterwards. Jo now also offers short painting breaks where learners arrive fri until sun and enjoy watercolour painting and a spa break rolled into one.

The company is owned by Jo Allsopp who has been working in the arts and crafts industry for many years. Having previously worked for Leicestershire County Council in Further Education, Jo Allsopp is more than qualified to manage the business. She has appeared on National TV BBC 1 art show Home is where the Art is, BBC Radio Leicester, Art publications and magazines. She has appeared in the National Media and sells her work through Etsy here and abroad and on other platforms too.
