About Ryan the Writing Tutor
I’m Ryan, a friendly and experienced writing tutor helping children turn ideas into brilliant stories, articles, and essays. I work with primary and early secondary students who need help with writing confidence, creativity, grammar, or SATs preparation. I also run a popular local writing club at HurstWorks in Hurstpierpoint.
I offer 1:1 creative writing and English tutoring both online and in person, helping children across Key Stage 2 and 3. Whether we’re building up vocabulary, exploring punctuation, or crafting a story about Minecraft zombies, each session is tailored to your child’s interests and needs.
Sessions are particularly helpful for reluctant writers, those with additional needs (such as autism or ADHD), and children who are preparing for Year 6 SATs or aiming to enter national writing competitions.
This isn’t school - it’s something better. I make writing fun, achievable, and confidence-boosting. Many of the children I teach begin sessions feeling unsure about writing and go on to take pride in their work, enter competitions, and write more freely in class.
Lessons are tailored, relaxed, and filled with encouragement. Whether your child needs to plug gaps in grammar or just find the joy in writing again, I’d love to help.
I’ve worked in mainstream schools as both a classroom teaching assistant and a specialist SEN support TA, supporting children with autism, ADHD, and a wide range of learning styles. Now self-employed as a private tutor, I work with students across the UK - both online and in person - focusing on creative writing and English.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and have helped many children boost their confidence, improve their writing skills, and prepare for assessments such as Year 6 SATs and AQA English Language exams. I also run a creative writing club at HurstWorks in Hurstpierpoint.0 FreeIndex Reviews
